Ok so I am scrolling down in FF and then this BSOD comes up. Im like WTF, w/e. I restart my computer and it boots up but with about 1/3 of my icons that should be on the desktop. Im like "ok then" and i restart my computer. Now when it goes to load, all it says is "Invalid System Disk". I just dropped a Win98 startup disk in there but i haven't seen what it did yet. Any ideas?
God hates you.
Sounds like your hard-drive bit the big one.
When i stick the start-up disk in it sees everything on c:/. I think my MBR bit the big one.
You can fix the MBR with the Windows Recovery Console (off the Windows XP cd). I forget how, though, Google would know.
It does sound like a bad harddrive, though.
Im gonna have to assume its not the HDD because i can move files from c:/ to d:/.
Files (icons on your desktop) just don't disappear.
Sorry.
Run chkdsk.
That'd be my suggestion too. Run chkdsk.
CHKDSK says its fine. SCANDISK says its fine.

Hmm. Aliens abducted your hard drive and probed its anus?
Suppose i should have looked into that BSOD. I think it was my video card driver blowing up because before the computer stopped getting to Windows the resolution was all messed up.
Anyways i have to reformat now. I think ill drop WIn 2000 on there and not WinME. But now its time for me to be 1337 and lock this topic.
I feel your pain, only in a greater way.
Yeah, trust lost his porn. chkdsk is a microsoft utility.. why'd you suggest it? Use the.. linux.. thing.
