The 4th is coming up, and you'll all (minus iago) be celebrating! Where are you going?
I'm going to my cousins house to watch the Columbus Wisconsin parade, then hopefully meeting up with Laura and breaking the news that, seeing as how it will be an entire year (minus an hour or so) since I'd seen her last, that I can't be her boyfriend anymore (I think she caught on by now, but eh?). Enough about that, we're going swimming in their pool and eating burgers! Woo! Then we're gonna go watch the fireworks down at the park (they lit the football scoreboard last year, heh) and then come home. Or not come home, we might just crash there, because its an hour drive home and we wont leave until midnight at the earliest. Reply nigaz.
I'm not celebrating.
Nags Head
I'm working, woohoo!
Today (July 1) is Canada Day. It's similar to your Independance Day, except that instead of attacking our parent country, we just left them. I'm not celebrating it in any way.
rofl@iago. The british wouldn't let us leave, we also didn't attack them they attacked us. Not like we sailed over there *rofl*.
I'll be leaving for China ^^ Wasn't Canada's parent country... France? Everyone would know the outcome of that fight :P
No, Canada was part of the British Empire, and now we're still part of the British Commonwealth. We were able to become (mostly) independant without having a war and committing high treason (like the American Founding Fathers did).
Yea, but we owned them. :).
@iago: Well, that reflects a lot on how Americans behave huh?
@Warrior: With our muskets and poor trained farmers!
Canadians were too much of pussies to cast off their reigns. ;)

Like Warrior said, we didn't attack Britain. We tried to do what Canada did, but the British Empire wouldn't allow it. The only reason Canada got away with it is because there was a greater presence of knowledge in the world when they did it. They had support.

Cartier claimed Canada for the French, though. Did the British take Canada from the French?
The french don't own Canada, but they sure own Quebec. Happy Canada Day iago. :)
The French founded Canada, then the Brits stole it and were like "phuck t3h fr4nch0rz", then Canadians became Friends and revolted peacefully.
Canada was allowed to break off after our revolution, because England didn't want another revolution. Canada was given self internal rule, but still deferred to Britain on foreign policy for a while. Now they are completely broken away. So my question is what are you celebrating? The day England allowed self internal rule or the day England allowed total rule.
As far as I know, it celebrates the day in 1867 when the first 4 provinces because a single country known as Canada.
We still follow Britain into wars and such, normally. We are still part of the commonwealth and still worship the Queen and sing God Save the Queen and all that. And our money still has pictures of the Queen on it.
I'm sure Quebec loves that :).
Haha yea, we were completely unprepared. We won sorta cheap using ramparts to trick them into using up thier ammo.
My mother went out of town till next Wednesday and gave me a key. So I i will be going to a small town in farm country and blow shit up hopefully, but more than likely just bbq and drink beer.

Are you serious? Please re-read history if you're going to slide in nationality slams based upon it. There was a little more involved than just a blatant attack our parent country. ::)
I was in Canada for Canada Day last year. I must say after seeing those people its a good thing they weren't forced to fight. They'd have gotten their asses kicked.
OWNED iAGO! OWNED!
ZORM WON iAGO NUN!
Anyhow, I'm building a Catapult. I might be able to make it to Canada within the next hour. (uh no)
Why not just build a big box and ship that? I bet it would only be a week in a box with no air or food... plus it would be cheaper then flying.. its a lose-win situation!
I didn't make it. =/.
I loved the boston tea party, biggest show of stubborness evar.

Are they aspiring Frenchmen?..is that why they speak french?
I'm going to a friend's bday bbq on the 4th & then off to watch the city fireworks. Last year's show was awesome & horrible! Bad because they shot off the finale fireworks @ the beginning, good because they shot the finale ones off wrong & they exploded WAY too close to the ground & nailed houses
I had a girl ask me to hang out with her today & stay the night @ her house since her parents are in Colorado, I'm not going :(, my mom wouldn't let me randomly stay the night 230 miles away from home :(!
