Title: Current Absract-ish banner project
Post by: Tuberload on July 09, 2005, 06:49:55 PM

This is the result of my first step in this project. It's supposed to be an explosion of sorts. Created using brushes, smudge tool, burn tool, layers, and blending options. Of course various different colors were involved as well.

I will continue to add to this thread as the project evolves. Any and all critisizm is welcome.

Edit: Used the liquify tool to smoothen it out a bit.

Added a little bit more to it. The cloud looking background was created using clouds (black/white). From there I used the lens flare filter to highlight certain parts of the clouds. From here I used various brushes and changed the blending options.

The second one is hawt. I just dislike the background. Clouds are the devil, though I used to use them all the time.

If you want some good PS7 brushes, AIM me deadly74life or MSN dotadeadly@hotmail.com -- I have some very abstract ones, and some that are ok abstract.

That looks very nice, Tubby.

It's not much of a background, though. ;-P

Eh, it's getting there. I agree, the background could be more fitting, and I'm not sure what type of subject this would go well with. The abstract looks crystal-ish.

Reminds me of this explosion tutorial I once saw ;)

Quite to bright for my eyes though.

Way too bright, should darken it a little bit.

New Layer -> Fill black
"Overlay"
Set Opacity: 89%
Set Fill: 80%

That's what I use to darken. Works pretty nice.

You're smarter than most aren't you?   ::)

The base idea was from a tutorial I found, but I added and changed certain things about it.

The clouds were just the base, from there I brushed it. It is supposed to be smoke or something. Not quite sure. I wouldn't mind checking out your brushes, I use PS defaults.

It will be the background for a banner in the end. Although I plan on re-doing it, this is turning out to be more of a learning experience.

Update: http://67.185.36.85/images/BACKGROUND_2_2.gif

Just changed the colors around a bit. Added a few more layers of various things. I do not like it so I will be restarting.

Edit: Wow I didn't even link the update. Link fixed.

Tremorwave's first and second airbrushing tutorials (first and second links) are pretty good for most occasions, not just postwork on 3d graphics.

I am not very interested in 3D graphics. The tutorials are usefull to me in my arena of interest though.
