Apparently in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, my .dat folder is gone. Which would be why I'm seeing all DAT files with a Windows Media Player icon! Any idea how this happened/how to fix it so that no program opens it, but so that it actually has a file recognition? I tried the "Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types -> Add" but I didn't know what to put.
I run WinXP Pro
Remove the dat entry silly.
Uh, there IS no DAT entry in this computer, but there is on the other one. It happened like a week ago now that I remember it actually, I just noticed it now.
You can right-click, click "Open with...", pick the proper program, and check "Always use this program"?
He wants it so that there is no program association.
Open regedit
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
delete HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/.dat folder
nevermind. And you people were confuzzled by what I said, but I somehow found the folder yet not the file type. I'm so fucking confused...
Topic closed, as it doesn't try to open with WMP anymore.
