It was a stormy evening. Granny Smyth, Detective James, the gangster Al, and Miss Goodman were standing in the lobby of a hotel waiting for a cab. Suddenly the power went out, leaving complete darkness. There was the sound of a kiss followed by a punch. Moments later, the lights came back on. The elderly Granny Smyth smiled since she thought Miss Goodman had just belted Al, who was sporting a fresh black eye. Miss Goodman thought Al was a little strange because instead of trying to kiss her, he must have tried to kiss Granny Smyth, or maybe even the Detective. Al thought James must have tried to kiss Miss Goodbody, and that she accidentally hit him instead. Only James knew what really happened. Can you figure out what took place?

Who is Slug?
A name from the original riddle that I changed to make it harder to Google. It's fixed now.

Who is Miss Goodbody? :P
i'm sure you can figure that one out loser :P
Al accidentally kissed the detective so the detective slugged Al.
James kissed his knuckle and punched Al.
But Ergot, that would render most of the clues useless and leave it to speculation. With the provided clue that it's beleived by Miss Goodman (iirc) that Al tried to kiss (possibly) the detective, then we know that the detective (if that were true) had a reason to punch Al. The detective would have had to of punched Al because he knew what happened, even though the lights were out.

James kissed his knuckle and punched Al.
Correct! Sorry, Trust :P
BULLSHIT. NOTHING POINTS TO THAT.
YOU SUCK AT RIDDLES.
Yours is incorrect, Trust, because if Al had accidentally kissed James, Al would know what happened as well as James. In Ergot's solution, only James knows who kissed who (what).
Lol, wow I was like half joking :P
