Why did microsoft pick com as the extension for a excutable? They are tricky to new people who don't know what they are doing on the internet.

Com existed well before domains with ".com" on them.  Making commercial domain names ".com" was a really dumb decision.

They could have made it .bus for business
Or .usa/.amr for American sites (stick with countries)
Or .cpy for Company

Or .corp for corporation, or .inc for incorporation.  .cpy reminds me of what I sometimes call my computer, "compy."  :P
