Problem:
Well, I turn on the computer and I notice it is SLOW SLOW SLOW I mean REALLY SLOW
Like it took about 5 minutes to get to the XP Logon screen then 5 more to get my desktop to show
Well my BIOS has this option which makes it run normally (as in really fast) which is CPU Internal Caching (aka Memory Caching)
Problem: Whenever I enable this and attempt to boot XP I either get frozen at the screen or get a BSOD (DRIVER_IRQ_LESSTHAN_OR_NOT_EQUAL) or just a BSOD with no description.
I managed to boot ONCE (don't ask me how) and everything ran fine but a few minutes later (like 5) I get a tripple fault (for those who don't know thats a sudden restart of the PC) and now the same thing happens. It's really annoying and I wan't to know what I can do to fix it.
Thanks in advance,
Warrior :(
Have you ran MemTest86 (http://www.memtest86.com) yet? I've seen some really bizarre problems caused by bad memory.
Haha.
I have a similar problem. It takes the Windows XP boot disk 30 minutes to load all its drivers.
It takes Slackware boot disk ~30 seconds. :)
Yea it's very slow during the drawing process. One of you (Joe) mail me a slackware CD.
btw, how big is that file? No internet due to bad computer at home although I could bum something off the library ;)

Which file, Slackware or MemTest? Since we live 45 minutes away I could easily mail you either.

It's less than 100KB, IIRC. More than small enough to fit on a floppy.

I think he meant MemTest. Slackware is on 2CD's (the full thing), as I'm sure you both know.

Yes'm, I should just begin burning Slackware CD's, since so many people apparently want them nowadays.
Send em or walk em here. Heres an idea. Get down here with two arms full of computer parts so we can play. :/ .
btw: Which highspeed internet you with? I'm thinking of switching.
Ok got that memtest, going to try it and be back later in the day to report results.

I think they're called Prolog Express, not sure if their service goes that far though, I think it should.

See if you can get Verizon FiOS. I told my dad to switch to it as soon as it becomes available here and he said "okay".
Ugh, my floppy busted :/. I want to know if it really is the ram before I go out and buy a whole new peice.
I have doubts though due to the ram working on my previous motherboard fine
Oh well, it's like 26 bucks anyways.
Ugh I love this new mobo, I might actually go out and buy the ram and/or a new floppy drive,
later going home. be back today or tomorrow after school.
I wouldn't buy new RAM until you're sure that it's bad.
