Yeah, must stricter than the U.S. (generally.)

I'm not sure about their tech laws though.

Not Singapore, it's Sweeden. That's called 'Lookup Privacy' and it's good in evading laws ;)

Hmm, a little off-topic here, but if I get a webhost that's located in Canada, do I have to follow American laws when uploading copywrited materials?

I'm not positive, but I believe that the laws for content on the server are up to the server, and the country it's in, but when that stuff is on your computer it's up to you.

As I've probably mentioned, we have a foreign exchange student from China this year (Guizhou province, I think).

He was telling us how the Chinese government only allows 100 movies to be shown throughout the country each year.  He's seen a lot of movies, though.  How do you think that's possible?  Bittorrent!  He didn't really mention how illegal it was, but he did say that everyone he knew in China did it.

It's interesting that they're that liberal about pirating in a country who's government is seemingly more firm on the issue.

In Japan, you rent cds from a store for like 7 cents and are able to rip them premium quality, then return them. My friend was explaining about how his sister got such an extensive Japanese music collection.

Why use www.newnova.org when we can type in their IP (http://83.149.101.39")! I imagine this'll fail miserably. :P

Because that would defeat the purpose of the DNS system!

But they don't just redirect to the IP without masking. :)
