My friend (whose house I'm staying at this weekend) works in a beer vendor. I used to work there too, but I quit years ago; it's where I met her.
Anyway, lately, they've been having problems with fake IDs. But one of the guys who works there knows a lot of the nearby kids, since he goes to school with them, and he normally knows when somebody is under age. That's how they realized they were having a problem in the first place.
Anyway, today, a car full of kids pulls up. One of them comes in and tries to buy a couple things. He hands her his ID, and she looks at it carefully, adding up the numbers, checking the lamination, and all the fun stuff they taught us to do. When she's about to hand it back, he says "Oh yeah, it's fake". She says, "Ok, I'll take your word for it. Get out" he says "I was just kidding!" she says "Too bad, get out".
So he goes back to the car. Another guy comes in, and tries to buy the same thing. She looks at his ID, and does the same thing. Again, when she's about to hand it back, he says "huh huh, mine's fake too!" she says "Ok, get out" "I was joking!" "Get OUT". So he grabs the walkie-talkie they use to call security (who was standing right next to her) and says "mayday, mayday, we have a bitch!" and the security guy said, "I'm standing right here, you fucking retard". Meanwhile, everybody else in line is laughing their asses off at this kid. He left, the car pulled away, and that's it.
The moral of the story is, don't joke around about stuff like that. And that my friend is a bitch, but everybody (including and especially her) already knows that :)
Did she confiscate the IDs? I hate that, it's a waste and really isn't nice. :(
I was telling her that she should. But no, it's illegal to. Of course, going to the police and saying that they stole your fake ID would be pretty funny
So basically, its illegal to help stop crime (using fake IDs)? Nice.
It's illegal to take somebody's "property", technically.

Unless you're a cop, then it's encouraged
