Do you pronounce Linux with a long or short I sound? I know the name Linus usually has a long I, but I read somewhere that where Linus Torvalds lives it had a short I, so I pronounce it likewise.
How about you guys?
It can be done either way. Linus himself explains it in Revolution OS.
Short I. Unix has a short I, so does Linux. :)
Go me! The MS Tech guy pronounced it like that too. =)

I've never really met someone who pronounces it "Line - ux", I don't think.
I haven't either, I always say it like...
lyn - icks

lie-nux
YOU SUCK! :D
The correct pronounciation, according to Linus, is Lin ux, the short i.
He talked about how a lot of people pronounce it based on his name, linus -> lie nux, but he doesn't like that.
I always say it "lin" "ux", yago. I win! :)
lyn-icks.
I said Line-ix, until I heard them pronounce it the other way on Tech TV a couple of years ago. :)
