Whats the least processor intensive desktop and how can I switch to it?
[edit]
BTW, right now I'm using KDE :X
Use 'xwmconfig' to change "desktops".
xfce
KDE and Gnome are heavy
XFCE is light
FluxBox is the most common light one. WindowMaker is my favorite light one. Give them a shot.
ion
I highly disrecommend ion. It's the lightest, and probably the most functional for people who know how to use it, but I don't recommend it.
FluxBox for a less intensive window manager. :P
I've tried the ones in the menu (KDE, xfce, WM, Fluxbox, and a couple others). I really like xfce, but 1 thing bugs me: the menus don't cascade, they scroll. Arg. Anyone know how to fix this?
Also, I can't edit the xfce menu when I'm in my user account, and it's annoying. I have things to change.
I don't know, on both accounts. Tmp is the only person I know who's been using xfce for an extended period of time, he might know. If not, I'm sure they have a mailing list if you look.
Thanks for reminding me of mailings :P
I signed up "for users"...so..I'll see what comes of that.
