Title: Wish me luck..
Post by: Joe on December 16, 2005, 08:32:37 AM
Meeting with police this morning to discuss me 'harassing' a girl on the bus last night. Totally BS claim, but whatever.

Yeah this has happen to me before. I suggest that you try to just keep your mouth shout and DENY everything that is thrown your way. They wont arrest you on some bullshit claim if they dont have prove you did anything.

I don't think it's legal to arrest someone under 18. :\

Maybe I'm completely wrong there.  I know you can't be thrown in jail, though.

You all suck at life. I just accepted everything, and seeing as how me and Megan are friends-ish, she didn't want to press charges or anything. Seeing as how there was a tiny bit of violence involved (I tapped her on the head, she called it a slap), I'm suspended for a day (yippie!)

I still get to see the movie tonight. I'm just going to have to explain to half my church where I was today.

So, anyhow, I see Ashley O. (theres Ashley H, Ashley J, Ashey L, and Ashley O, kinda like on Disney's Recess), and shes like where are you going, because I have my backpack. Quietly (its in the middle of a class, but theres two teachers right behind me, so eh?) I'm like "I got suspended for sexual assault, I'll be back on Monday". Shes gives me the "WOAH" face and shes like "What the hell did you do?" and I'm like I'll tell you on Monday. Shes like, "is that parents?" and I say "no, thats Mr. Carr and Mrs. Kleist". We had a good laugh about that. =p

You know, you could have just told her "I got suspended for a day for tapping my friend on the head."  It wouldn't have been lying, and it would have sounded a TON better than "sexual assault."

But come on, what did you REALLY do?  You don't get labeled with sexual assault unless you did something like rub up on her or something.

In Canada, if they even TRIED to call the police on something like that, I'll bet they'd say "don't waste our time."  Dunno if that's a good thing or a bad thing, though.. :)

The RCMP are for outside cities, they don't typically go into cities unless they have to.

And unlike the US, RCMP officers are allowed to cross provincial lines.  I've heard of American criminals cross a pronvincial border and stop to make fun of the RCMP, who proceed to cross the border and arrest them.  Of course, that could just be an urban myth *shrug*

So optimistic..

But, he is right if you were "friend-ish" then she wouldn't of called you out for "sexual assualt" when it was just a "tap on the head"..  Are you leaving anything out, Joe?

Yeah, police in Canada have authority everywhere in Canada, not just the RCMP.

I've heard that story before, just they weren't criminals, just plain Americans. ;)

My cousin has been chased by the mounties, on several an occasion, and they just give up since hes a great driver and outruns them.  Apparently if they don't stop you, they can't press charges. :)

It works like that here, but not provincial: just over international borders. You can get arrested in New York for extortion in Florida.

Haha, oops.  What do they do when they arrest you, though?  Take you to the station and call your parents?  That doesn't sound too terribly frightening, considering you're not getting in too much trouble with the law. :)

You can be arrested, but they will notify your parents, and you don't say in jail. Charges can be pressed against  you of course (Juvenile Court), and then so on and so forth. This is what happens in Florida anyway.

Don't they press charges against your parents too, since they're liable for your actions?

Look at it this way, if girls don't even like him touching their forehead(s) (for whatever reason he wanted to in the first place), then chances of getting laid are probably extremely low, so, generally through out life we'll still have opprotunities to torcher him.

Secondly, Joe, how is that sexual assault? And if she's "friend-ish" with you, why would she call the cops? I've done things a lot worse then poking their forehead and it hasn't been sexual assault.

Lastly, why the hell do you want to touch her forehead?

I don't understand how touching someone's forehead is sexual assault in any case, unless you're poking her with your dick or something.

Not without going through some loopholes.

For example: county DPS officers are not allowed to give civil traffic tickets within city limits, and city police are not allowed to give civil traffic tickets on state highways.  They do not have jurisdiction.

To be arrested in one state for a crime committed in another, it usually involves a federal agency that has overarching jurisdiction than either state.  Just like in international cases, a state has to go through an extradition hearing to get someone tranported from one state to another for a crime.

Like I said Joe, you did nothing wrong. You suck @ arguing. I would have gotten out of that withought a suspension.
I guess you like ruining your rep :/. Pssh I should join the debate team.

Anyhow you should have pulled a "I was trying to save her from embarassment and she should be thanking me.." and
then start to complain about how they are wasting your time. You need to be really cocky (No attitude just cocky) and
almost smirk in thier face as you make your comebacks. It intimidates the administrator and he will ease up on the punishment
and if anything remove it totally. You can't get mad or sound like you don't know what you're talking about. Always sound calm
and on top of things even if in reality you have no idea what's going on </snip>

I agreed, or everyone there hated him. When something like this, more than likly the police will asked for statements from everyone there.  But then again, it's possible he can be charged for simply touching her on the head. If the girl doesn't want him touching her and he does, even though it's a tap on the head, she can still charged him. At least that's how it is here.

You're foolish if you think popularity is something to aim for if it sacrifices your future.  Suspensions go on your record, so will this case.  You're even more foolish if you just "shrug it off."

Well..you're not going to team up with them. Each team is affirmitive or negative no room for maybe or you will just get laughed at. Also some of the cockiest debaters are the ones who score the most points simply because they are aggressive in the questioning and make the other person confused. It's a pretty good strat imho

Being cocky and arrogant generally entails that you're stubborn and refuse to see the other side of the argument.  Because of that, your arguments are weaker because you'll fail to see the flaws in their points.  Starting the argument with a neutral point of view (or at least pretending you have a neutral standing) generally makes your arguments a lot stronger than they otherwise would be.

Being cocky means you think you're inherantly correct, which is a horrible stance in debates.
