Yup, I'm the 238th person to download Gaim v2.0.0!
Last one to get it is dead meat! (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=235&package_id=253&release_id=378940)
235th
Pfft, I told you about it, loser :P
Anyway, I updated my xmms plugins for the Linux user in your family:
http://www.javaop.com/~iago/xmms-plugin2.so
Or, if you like source:
http://www.javaop.com/~iago/xmms-plugin2.c
As usual, place in ~/.gaim/plugins
/me continues to use v1.3.1
Yet again, you're slow Joe :) Ergot -> iago -> Joe. GG
They now support /nudge. Luckly, all it does is display a message. No sound, no shaking, nothing annoying. Thank God!
Thanks for infoming me on that... I was scared my uncle would nudge the hell out of me once he found out he could o_o.

That would so suck.
It's a beta... I'll wait for the real thing.

I really don't see anything new that I like in it, some of its really getting annoying... :-\
I'm waiting for them to merge gaim-vv
I rather like Gaim2, actually. I'm not sure why :)
The only thing I'm waiting for is Gaim-Encryption. But as for being a beta, I have yet to have a problem with it. Although my mouth was a little dry.. but in any case, I enjoy using beta software. It's part of supporting OpenSource, finding bugs for them and stuff :)
Tried it and switched back to 1.5, I really don't like the gui changes and have no desire to edit them out myself.
Yea, I heard previously about how the stripped out settings and made them a single unchangable (without editing source/ make plugin or w/e) setting.
What settings are stripped out?
I rather like how they combine the chat for buddies that are grouped into 1, though. Like Towelie is frequently annoying and messages me on different accounts, and it puts them all into a single window, single history. That's handy.
There's only one annoying gui change, that big away thing. And you can easily shrink it to 0, which is good.
If there's stuff about it you don't like, you should submit it, though. Part of the point of this is for them to get a feel about what the users like.
Check the changelog ^^
I love how it just created four "Gaim" icons on my desktop.

My only problem is that I get

whenever I open it, but other than that, it runs just fine, and I have no problem with the GUI (because like iago said, the fugly parts are shrinkable).

You're welcome. :)

It's a Linux program. Linux programs are perpetually in beta; the REAL version number is 0.2.0.0, they just don't want to tell you that.

Wow! We've all been completely swamped in feedback since Saturday's beta release. I'm personally surprised how positive it is as a whole. We've gotten a ton of really well-founded gripes, but I think generally people are liking the direction we're going with Gaim 2.0.0. Also important to note is that there are a bunch of things we had suspected were bad or weren't sure about, and we've been able to gauge everyone's opinions about them. On that note, please keep your feedback coming, but there are a few recurring reports we definitely already know about and are working on that you don't need to let us know about anymore:
* The per-account statusboxes are a bad idea
* The statusboxes in general are too big.
* We intentionally removed more preferences than we should have, to see which ones absolutely can't be lived without. Some of them (e.g. Show idle times in buddy list, report idle time by Gaim usage) need to be ressurected
* Saved statuses need to be easier to get to
* Smooth scroll needs to be optional; people are very polar about how they feel about the smooth scroll
I'm sure there are a bunch of other common themes I'm forgetting about here. The other Gaim developers and I will be sure to come back and update this list as we think of other recurring complaints we've seen. Thanks so much for everyone's truly overwhelming response!
At least they care ^^

Very untrue, but I won't burst your bubble.

I agree at every one of those.
Of course they care! :P
Also, for the record, Gaim-encryption 3.0beta1 has been released.

Hehe, that comes up for me too.
Ditto, but I only start Gaim once a week-ish, so I don't really care.
I tried to build the gaim encryption for the beta. It didn't go so well.......
I have to say, I love how they finally got the "combining buddies" thing right. When you group somebody together, they are effectively the same person. It uses the same window, you can search the combined history, and it's really easy to change which screenname you use to send to them (it's under a menu). In all previous versions of Gaim, I found that grouping buddies didn't really work properly, and felt buggy.
And on a sidenote, gaim-encryption3-beta2 has been released, which fixes a crashing bug (that me and Newby apparently found) :)

Yeah, but nobody who counts uses Windows.
There are 9 source downloads now, but I downloaded it as soon as he announced it. So who knows? :)
