Title: Hrm, is vL getting ddos'd?

That's the scary thing about a DDoS -- there's absolutely no way to prevent it.

I saw a giant ad on the drive to San Francisco "Denial of Service -- Denied" or something like that.

It depends on how the DDoS works.  If it's exhausting alll your bandwidth, there's nothing you can do about it.  If it's exhausting your memory/cpu, then it can be prevented with the right technologies. 

Yes, some IPS's can block it from memory-consumption.
