I'm going to post some pictures of my house that I just took about 15 minutes ago. Can you decide what happened? Be the CSI!
[Warning: a tiny bit graphic. But I've been walking over it all day, so it can't be THAT bad]

Good luck!
You sick bastard. What did little Johnny ever do to you?!
Ew. Your dog REALLY had to go.

LOL
It looks like someone had a little too much red wine, just like Newby!
Haha
No, I assure you, that's all blood. We're replacing the carpet tonight, so I had to be sure to document it :)
You had your period and couldn't make it to the bathroom for a tampon in time? :(

Now I may not be an expert, but I suspect that period-blood doesn't come out explosively, up the walls and all around :P

Then you haven't seen that episode of South Park...
Your dog imploded?
You Canadians disgust me.
hunting?
I see a footprint of blood, so maybe someone cut their leg?

Or maybe he cut off someone else's leg.. and then stepped in their blood because of some weird canadian ritual.. And then walked through his house..
Weirdo! :D
By the way, in this picture (http://www.javaop.com/~iago/bottom_of_stairs.jpg), do you see the little ridge? Well, the blood on the carpet was overflow from the blood that pooled on the tiles and overflowed onto the carpet. Nice, eh?
I'll explain what happened when I get home, I'm at friend's right now.
Looks to me that something got cut on the arm/upper extermity, for some reaosn stayed at the top of the stares for ~5 mins (maby unconcious?) then made it way (standing) down the stares where it did something for ~10 mins, bleeding the eintire time. then headed out to some other room (the footsteps)

Your cat killed a mouse. A mouse can have a pint or more of blood, it could happen.
And managed to splatter the mouse all over? God damn, that's insane. I want iago's cat.
Haha... you shouldn't butcher live animals at your own home.

There was much more than a pint spilled, I think.
In any case, we had our dog's tail done. The tip of it was getting gross and stuff, so they cut most of it off (she was constantly in pain and stuff). Last night, she ripped off the bandage and stitches. Luckily I had to pee, otherwise she would have bled a whole lot more.
I thought you had a kitty o_o

That makes me feel sad. :'(

We do. We have a fat little kitty and a big dog (great dane). They get along swell.

The blood would suggest otherwise :P
Oh, nobody died. What a terrible episode of CSI.

For some reason, I highly doubt this is the case.
Firstly, iago probably wouldn't be talking as lightheartedly as he is about it. Secondly, the clues don't exactly agree with your situation. The way the blood is splattered on the walls would make it impossible for it to be some cut on the arm. If it was any bigger than a cut, there would be a lot more blood on the carpet. Also, it wouldn't take that long for the blood to clot if it was a cut. Bleeding stops (or at least stops -- unless it's a huge laceration) after a few minutes.

What's peeing have to do with anything? Did you pee on your kitty's wounds?!
No, he got up from the computer/porn mags and noticed.

Sleeping*, it was 2:30am. And apparently my stepdad stayed up with her all night until 8am when they took her to the vet.

I too highly doubt that is the case, but not because of some complicated technical response about blood splatter, but because iago told us what happened.
