"upside down" doesn't usually mean "flipped vertically". If I write it on a peace of paper then turn it upside down (which, typically, means rotating it 180o), I get that result.
Believe me, I tested it by turning my monitor upside down. Since it's a laptop, that's not really an accomplishment, but whatever.

My video card can rotate the screen, so I wouldn't even have to do that. :)

Most video cards that are less than two years old can. Besides, it makes more sense to hold it up to a mirror, unless your video card also has a "reflect output" mode, which would be entirely useless.
