I'm seriously in a pinch right now. My Ubuntu install broke and my Windows CDs are fubared. I can install NT 4.0 workstation for now, but can some kind soul mail me Slackware?
yea i have your address ill get to it in 6-8 weeks and it should arrive in 6-8 pieces, 6-8 weeks after that.
Is it just me or do you go through linux cd's like nothing. Anyways, doesn't you have a local library with broadband?

The library scares me. =(. It's just you, I've only had one set of Slackware CD's.
Windows NT wouldn't install and I'm using ERD Commander for an OS right now. It's decent, but it has a shitty resolution and no media player. =(
Suck it up and go to the damn library.
I don't have a library card nor the time to get one.
..It takes all of two seconds.
Uh huh. Seriously, can someone mail me a set of Slackware CD's? There's no way I'll get away with downloading two full ISO's at a public library..
Go one day. Come back the next day. You lazy piece of crap.
They don't turn off the computers at your local library? The computers at my library are on for around 3 hours :(.
That's an even better way to get caught, Newby..
You must have at least one real-life friend.
........
who has a high-speed connection!

You know you meant the first part as a single statement on its own ;)
(<3 joe!)
It's not even remotly against the rules, just tell them what your doing, burn the cds, delete the files, leave. I use my library to download almost all of my files now, even though I have broadband, because its a fiber connection @ 50 mbps.
Or.. does your school have broadband, becasue thats easy too.
My school is uber-bitchy. Not only do they have outbound IP blocks left and right, but they block all outgoing connections except :80, :81, and whatever port GroupWise mail uses.

It's ok. :80 is HTTP, which can serve you up an ISO! :)
And what about the friends bit?

Yeah, what's wrong with HTTP?
Although there are many, many http mirrors, here one:
http://carroll.cac.psu.edu/pub/linux/distributions/slackware/slackware-10.2-iso/
And apparently it's 155mbit.
Meh, wget.exe is blocked as well, so I can't use it for -c, and they have IE, the mother of all mistakes, so I can't resume with that.
Seriously, could someone just send the two Slackware disks? I could pay you a little bit for your disks and effort, but the 30 for their CD's is just bull..

Purchasing the Slackware CDs is basically like donating to their project. If I had a credit card I'd buy the official CDs for sure.
I seem to have forgotten what I need to burn to the cds; just the .ISOs? Or, both that and the .md5?

The file with the .md5 exstension contains a file digestion hash of the ISO so you can verify you downloaded the one you were intending to.
$ md5sum <ISO> && cat <ISO.md5>
There's probably a more fancy way to do it, but that works.

I'll be on my sister's window laptop for DLing and burning, so.. ?
I think you'll be fine. Like I said, it's just to verify you've downloaded the file you wanted.

Yeah, I was too lazy to do it any how. ;) I'll just trust that sorce.
@iago: I definately agree, and support the Slackware project, but I already owe Tory 50 dollars for stuff he bought me and I'm working on paying him back with no income, except lunch money.

What's funny is that the two aren't even mutually exclusive. I've been working for 6 years now, going to church for almost that long. Now I'm working two jobs and still managing to hit up church.
But you're assuming Joe has any skills that are in demand.

Rabbit, could you go away please? Thanks. You seem to have overlooked that one of the biggest fields right now is technology/programming (which I am superior to around 95% of the world in, probably). Also, I could get a summer job like most kids my age and make some money doing.. stuff.
As for iago, I plan to get a job at Culvers (a fast food restaraunt, featuring ice cream!) this summer and make a nice wad of cash. Also, church is my job in a way - I do 3~ hours of volunteer work there per week, and I plan to actually get a "real" job as a youth pastor.

Oh Joe, I've had a bad week, thanks for making me laugh
