That would be funnier if it wasnt MIT ;)
MIT has two types of students:
1) Rich kids that have their tuition payed by daddy and only go to MIT because he wants them to
2) nerds
and the nerds are by far the majority
I don't know how prominant this is, but the US Navy also owns their Nuclear Engineering program. It's really easy to get into, considering you get to go to school at MIT, but like I said, I don't know how noticable of a difference it makes to its student population.

Cool, I knew their NukeEN program was good but didn't know it was the Navys. Always assumed it was at Annapolis.
I can't say for the population either, but at my university and others in the area, the Military population (mostly ROTC) is about 5%.
The Navy exalts the Nuclear Engineering program they offer, calling it the most prestigious entrance job in the Navy. I was signed up for it, but recently dropped out. You're automatically an E3 (Seamen... ahahah) when you sign up and there's also a $10,000 signup bonus. They really do a lot to convince people to sign up for that, but it was compromising what I wanted to do.

Got to have the fun Navy recruiter calling you every month then eh? They were trying to get me to enlist a few years ago in the CompEN program. E3 as well, but no $10k signing bonus. I'm glad I decided not to considering the fact that I would have almost certainly have been shipped to Iraq.
cool.
