wow, sadness
This has been brought up before, in a different article.
I think the key problem is: who the hell are Hitwise, and why should I believe their metrics? I'd be interested to know where they get their data from.
I don't think anybody can reliably compare websites, unless they run the server. I guarentee you that Hitwise is not counting my hits on Google, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were counting my sister's hits on MySpace. So instantly, the results are skewed.
I think the last thing like this was in regards to bandwidth. I can see MySpace using ALOT more bandwidth with the videos & etc....but Google has that now too....hmm
And how does the company "Hitwise" know?

Yes, but last I checked, Google uses Flash Video which has a MUCH smaller footprint than the videos on MySpace.
Don't they normally have some kind of spyware/malware on people's computers and track internet usage that way?

Alexa does. I trust them over Bitwise. :P
Yeah, this is stupid. Google is an invaluable tool on the internet. MySpace is a menace. They don't compare.
I would actually theorize that that the amount of spyware on a persons computer is directly proportional to the frequeny and length of use of myspace

I agree, which is why I'm not surprised that MySpace has supposedly higher traffic than Google.
