I had to buy a 56k modem today, and something funny happened. I figured I'd share it here.
So on my way home, I stopped at CBIT (Computer Boulevard IT). It's my favorite local computer store, and like most places they have one of those alarm things that try and stop you from stealing stuff.
Anyway, like I said, I had to find a 56k modem, and I had no idea where they are. So I wandered around, and eventually saw them. I walked up, looked at the price tags, and grabbed the cheapest one. Just as I was picking it up, this guy comes up behind you and says "I need to take your bag" (I was wearing a backpack, which never left my back). I said, "I'm on my way out", and he said "I have to take it", so whatever, I gave it to him, we walked to the front. While he was filing my bag away on a table, I was standing there waiting to buy the one little thing. So he serves me, and I pay for it. Finally, he hands me my bag AROUND the alarm thing!! I guess he just wanted to either:
a) slow me down, or
b) make sure that if I WAS stealing anything, I could easily get away with it.
Hahaha. Something funny involving sensors happened to me a while ago.
So I'm going to Walgreen's with my dad to pick up something (I don't even remember what it was). I walk in and when I'm walking IN the security thing goes off. Everyone in the store just looks at me and I'm sitting there thinking "WTF, how retarded would you have to be to set off an alarm after you've already gotten away with merchandise." Also, I was thinking of how I could steal something and not get caught since the sensor went off on the way in, I could just say it had already gone off. Hah.
Yes, iago, you do look like a theif.

Oh my bad... I misread... no, iago you don't look like a thief. That's why I don't bring thick jackets, backpacks, or other things where you can store stuff into stores.
I really had no choice. It's on my way home from work and I was on my bike, so I had nowhere to put it.
Well, you don't have to be smart to work at a computer store...

All canadians look like thiefs.... he has to strip seach everyone who comes in.
And the thing is, I don't care about dropping off my bag. But don't hand me my back around the security sensors on my way out, that's just dumb.
Was it like intentionally around the sensor or could he have just done it because of his location?

He could have done it both ways. I think he's just an idiot and didn't think.
Since that image is in felt pen, I have a strange feeling that it's not really a store policy. :)
lol @ iago
