(but not as much as Lady in the Water!)
The backlight on my screen has gone out before, that plastic on my power cord came off & wires were exposed & now my hinge is somewhat broken. It still functions, however, its pretty jacked.
I have to send it in through BestBuy so its gonna take like 2-3 weeks :(...this is NOT cool at all.
How old is your notebook?

Like 1 yr 1 month
I got the extended warranty thing through BestBuy, but that means I'm without communication to the online world via my laptop for 2-3 weeks :( *tear*...there is always our desktop, but I still have nothing to do at work then.
I MIGHT send it away this coming saturday, I have band for a 1.5 weeks (all day pretty much) so that'll be better.
Maybe I can just have BestBuy mail me the new hinge parts & I can install it...I wonder how hard it'd be to open up my screen. I got it mostly open today to see what was wrong (some metal piece broke).
Hrmm.. I love my HP notebook. It's amazing. ^^

how long have you had it?
Yeah, I've had a HP Notebook for about 2 years and it's doing well. It has a couple minor things, but I'll get those fixed before my warranty ends.
I seriously hope this is something that I can fix myself & that they'll send me the parts for.
Have any of you ever openned up a laptop & messed with the hinges?
they wont let you do it yourself. It would void the warranty.

thats what I thought about our desktop PC...but when the CD drive went out they just handed me a new one (after I asked) & let me do it

That won't be the case when you have to replace the LCD screen. It would not be wise to void the warranty on a laptop.

Their turnaround should be just about 2 weeks.
I told you that plan was worth it.
