Title: WTB (Mega!) Old Computer
Post by: Joe on October 17, 2006, 06:11:56 PM
Does anyone have (or know of someone who has) a Commodore 128 or an Apple II (or IIGS) that they're willing to part with? Coming up with software and a sceen shouldn't be a problem for me, as I have a TV in my house (shocker) and never parted with the software from my old ones when I parted with the machine itself (I don't recall what happened to any of them, actually..). I'd just like to buy one from someone I know personally because I personally am paranoid of buying a computer itself over eBay.

Anyone?

I've never had problems buying computer/computer parts on ebay. I'm more scared of online shops ;)

You could run an emulator if you just wanted to play around with one.

yeah, an emulator would probably be better (cheaper and easier to obtain)

I don't like emulators that much. Plus terra doesn't have a 5.25' floppy drive. :)

I had a lot of fun programming on the old beast in my early days and I'd like to revisit that. Plus I have some friends who are semi-interested in my room of "junk" (I refer to it as my office, it's a "craft room" with shelves covered in computer pieces) and I thought showing them a old relic like that in the full swing of work would be fun. :)

That's fine, if you can pick one up at a garage sale or craigslist for $5 or something, or even better for free.  But don't invest a lot of time and money in it - it's just not worth it.
