Title: Why Version Control is Important
Post by: iago on October 23, 2006, 03:11:23 PM
We had a product that was supposed to be delivered today.  It'd been developed over the course of several months.  One of the guys who wrote it (I wasn't on this project, thank God) accidentally overwrote a bunch of the source files.  The last backup was a month ago.

Oops!

So... After an incident like this can we expect another "Fired!" thread in the near future? (That is, in relation to the guy who messed up)

Our boss doesn't seem overly upset, and the guy who did it is going to work overtime until it's fixed.  He figures he can have it done by the end of the week.

It was a long night for him, and apparently it's almost back to where it was.

Apaprently, he only lost the front-end files, the classes and AJAX libraries and stuff were still in place.  So all he had to do was re-create the html.
