I personally use just the left shift key. I can't recall a time when I actually use my right one.
What about you?
Right.
Right. I use left periodically, but it sounds funny.
The proper way is to use both, depending on which letter you're capitalizing.
I use the right. I hug the tab key with my left pinky, so it's toucing the plastic on the key board, and the side of the key. I just use my right finger more with backspace and stuff, so it's easier.
well this is interesting.......... I use my left most of the time.
I use the left shift key for capitalization. Only the left shift key.
I just expiramented a little bit. I always seem to use left. After attempting to use the right, I realized I can't do it! :P

Another weird question: Does anyone here type properly? :P
Is there a time that I prefer the use the left shift key over my right? Yes, when I'm typing a letter or character with my right hand. For instance, when I type a question mark, I'll use the left shift key because I'm using my pinky for the ?. However, if the key is sufficiently far away from the right shift key, I'll use my left.
Below is a complete list of characters that I type with each given finger:
Right shift: QWERTASDFGHZXCVB!@#$%^~
Left shift: YUIOP{}|JKL:"NM<>?&*()_+
I think it's because I actually type like I was taught in school. Who knows?
I Believe That I use my left.............I tried with my right, it just doesn't work so well

Yeah, that's the proper way. I actually remove my hand from home-row to do ?, which is really bad. I really should force myself to type properly. :/

I'm surprised that a lot of people say they use their left. I personally actually go between either hand to type I capital as well as parentheses, but apparently only because I type them so much. Other combinations on my right hand feel unnatural.
I use both.. Like MyndFyre, it depends where I'm typing. However, since most letters I end up having to capitalize/use shift on are on the right-hand side of my keyboard, I use the left shift key more. If you'll notice, every capitalized letter/character you'd have to use shift to obtain has been on the right hand side of my keyboard. Hah.

Game over, yeah.
I use the right one, all the time. I thought it would depend on the letter I was capitalizing but after a bit of expirimentation I realized that I always use the right. And always with my ring finger too... I don't use my right pinky at all.
Left shif key. I use the right one to do like... punctuation and emotes?

I only use the right shift key. On average I type at 210 WPM, ~99% accurately. 8)

Typing the word "a" 210 times in a minute doesn't count. :)
I used both, hooray.

Heh, agreed. People are really impressed when I tell them that my latest rated typing speed was about 150wpm. I typically don't worry about accuracy so much because almost always my inaccuracies stem from misspellings, which I can usually feel and automatically correct (for instance, I don't need to see a monitor to know that I've misspelled a word).
I type correctly with my left hand and chicken peck with my right (occasionally I use my right middle finger, and sometimes my thumb for space, but that's it).
PS: left.

I'm the same way, I know that I've misspelled a word as soon as I type it, although I don't necessarily know what I did wrong, and I generally need a monitor to fix it.
Hahah. In biology we were writing papers, and we were using laptops (lack of ergonomic..ness.. kills me). I ended up typing "happenes" instead of "happens" because I was rushing, and because laptops hate me with their small keys that you have to barely tap to press.
I can type 175 wpm, usually high-nineties accuracy. I had to, to get my computer :P.
175 miles per hour?! HOLY SHIT! :P
I just did an online test, since I haven't done one since junior high, and apparently I can type at 95wpm without making mistakes.
However, I think at significantly below 95wpm, so unless I'm transcribing it's a pretty useless statistic.

Likewise. Typing any faster than I do already would not be useful for anything. Except for maybe getting in the message I was typing where it was relevant, rather than after two or three unrelated ones go by like when talking to certain people who type much faster than I. *points at newby*
I use both, but more of the left one.

I type ~6000 wph, but I don't think I've ever been in the position to type for a whole hour.

We love you, too, Deuce. You just hate us because you're the token black guy we all pick on and make fun of. :P
I think significantly faster than I type, so eh?
It's hard for me to type properly 'cause I like streaching out my fingers. Also my ring fingers seem to be usless. Also I'm beginning to wonder: what hand presses the "B" key?
I use left shift. This might mainly be because my computer is a laptop and i use my right hand to use the touchpad. I'm right handed, otherwise that logic would be faulty being that the touchpad is off center towards the left side of the computer centered under the main part of the qwerty keyboard. (My laptop has a keypad on the right side of the computer.)
I'm not sure I've ever touched the right shift key on my keyboard. I can't type numbers.
