Title: Thank GOD I don't live in China...
Post by: Newby on April 10, 2007, 10:55:42 AM
http://games.slashdot.org/games/07/04/10/1249210.shtml

I'd only get 3 hours of WoW a day! :O

QuoteLast year, there were 31.12 million online game players in China. Of them, about 10 percent were below 18, said Kou Xiaowei, deputy director of the audio-visual and Internet publication department of the General Administration of Press and Publication, one of the eight government departments that released the regulation.

How about we restrict those that act under 18? Like the thousands of "12 year olds" running around, being ninjas or annoying pricks?

Suddenly that 10 percent becomes 90 percent. :(

QuoteUsers will have to register with their real names and Chinese identity card numbers to be allowed access to the games."

My former highschool's band went there over spring break, the director is ... large.

I guess in ALL of the cities little kids would run up to him and poke him and laugh.. :-\
...then their parents would point at the kid poking the fat man and laugh  :'(

China is one fucked up place

The bold part and your commentary suggests that you think it's sad that so many adults play, and that it is a similar environment to America where only immature adults would play video games. You perhaps fail to realize that many of those over 18 are playing WoW for the profit. That's what the government is trying to cut down on. That, and they just want to be dicks.

I was actually pointing (with the bold) at the fact that it's probably bullshit that 90% of the community is over 18.

Born down in a dead man's town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
You end up like a dog that's been beat too much
Till you spend half your life just covering up

Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.

Got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill the yellow man

Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.

Come back home to the refinery
Hiring man says "Son if it was up to me"
Went down to see my V.A. man
He said "Son, don't you understand"

I had a brother at Khe Sahn fighting off the Viet Cong
They're still there, he's all gone

He had a woman he loved in Saigon
I got a picture of him in her arms now

Down in the shadow of the penitentiary
Out by the gas fires of the refinery
I'm ten years burning down the road
Nowhere to run ain't got nowhere to go

Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
I'm a long gone Daddy in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
I'm a cool rocking Daddy in the U.S.A.
