....d  (damn it, so close)

http://cbs4.com/local/local_story_179085840.html

71y/o retired Marine was finishing eating when 2 dudes came in to rob the joint with masks and guns.
They tried to force him into bathroom, he distracted them and pulled out his .45 firing 7 shots.  One guy got hit in the head and stomach.

QuoteBut Gadson's grandmother, Rosa Jones, said: "He ain't no hero. He is a murderer and God will serve justice."

She and her husband, Ivory Jones, pastor of a Fort Lauderdale church, sat on their front porch in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday wondering how a man could shoot two people and not go to jail.
WTF!?  Somebody needs to hit them with a big ol' 2"x4" of reality, SHEESH.  Knock some sense into those old folks.
Their grandson was a horrible person and got everything he deserved.

Did he legally have the right to shoot the person?

If so, I can still see him going to jail for possessing a concealed weapon, unless his Marine service and training gives him that right.

EDIT -
QuotePolice say the customer did have a concealed weapons permit, and will not be charged.

I can read!

They were armed, masked, stealing his money, and man-hanlding him from what the article says.  That, in my mind, would be a threat to his life = okey dokey to lay those bastards out

Fair enough. I sort of looked over the manhandling part -- I'd have layed them out too, I guess. :)

Depend on state law.  In Arizona, they can: 13-406 (http://www.azleg.state.az.us/FormatDocument.asp?inDoc=/ars/13/00406.htm&Title=13&DocType=ARS) and 13-408 (http://www.azleg.state.az.us/FormatDocument.asp?inDoc=/ars/13/00408.htm&Title=13&DocType=ARS) ARS.

The guy did good.

I wish they had laws like that in Canada. The laws here try and make the victim the bad guy.  >:(

MyndFyre: I was sort of basing it on the common law of the right to "take someone's life to preserve your own", AKA kill-or-be-killed.

Common law is BS if there is a statute that says otherwise
