Just for those of you who don't read vL's forum, I decided to, just for fun, give up nail-biting. I've bited my nails all my life to the point where it's just a natural reflex.
Last time I did it was March 29 (Tuesday) around 5:30pm. Although I actually stopped on Monday night. So it's been 7 days since 9 of my nails have been growing.
It seems like now that my nails have grown a bit (for like the first time ever), they get dirt trapped under them. Having nails seems pretty unsanitary :/
I bite my nails to keep them short (nail clippers scare me)
Same. Cept the scaring part.
You're all youngins. nail-biters.pfft.
Biting your nails? That's pretty nasty I just peel mine. :D
... I suddenly feel so civilized

You say HAVING Nails is Unsanitary, well atleast you arent biting them with your mouth thats like 60 x more unsanitary....
When I bite them, they stay clean because they can't catch dirt.
Yeah but its Membrane Thats Pretty much like Chewing on Rhino horn (Which is made of Hardened Hair) when it first Appears out of the Skin
So?
NOTE to Everyone Other than iago. Never Try to make a Point for iago to understand... What I was pointing out was that you were saying its Unsanitary to not Clip or Bite when its Far More Unsanitary to Bite or Chew w/e... Point Made?
I don't see why. Nails themselves, like you said, are just compressed hair. Nothing dangerous there.
If your nails are short, there's no dirt, so nothing dangerous there.
If your nails aren't short, dirt builds up. That's pretty unsanitary.
But eating them is like an Oxymoron... Why eat them when truthfully there is Bacteria on them... Where as if you DON'T eat them you can't be EATING or even CHEWING a Bacteria infested Enviornment. We agree to disagree. Because in a Sense yes the Longer they are the more they become easily dirtied but in the other they are being eaten even when there is TRUELY Bacteria on them anyways.

Eating is different than chewing.
Despite what you just said I hope you realize bacteria still gets transferred onto your Teeth then onto your Tounge and so on and so forth.
In any case, back to the point -- the bacteria have nowhere to live when I don't have nails. When I DO have nails, they can hide under them and then I have extra bacteria living on my body. When I DON'T have nails, they don't have a place to hide.
They have plenty of places to live... 1 Nails are Porus and have many tiny cayons. 2 even the smallest of nails still hang over to the tiniest bit. They're microscopic... ANYWAYS oh well..

Maybe you should....take a shower? If you shower at least once daily, nothing "builds up". Dirty Canadese people...
Rabbits right... The build up is disolved when shower because of Steam.. it erodes the grime... This just supports the Non-Nailbiters
I shower daily. But I find myself cleaning my nails 2-3 times/day. Maybe I'm just crazy but I can always pull out dirt when I do it.
Its actually probably Dead Skin..
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. From scratching and such. Still isn't something I like to leave handing around.
Anyway, I cut my nails today (for the first time ever) -- I just have to keep them short :)
YAY FOR RON Congrats.. :)

I will mail you 10 whole US dollars if you take a picture of you with long fingernails on at least 1 hand (must be 1.5-2cm EACH, not total).
PS: I'm serious.
Thats not creepy at all Rab... -_-
I raise that bet! Err, I'll send iago a log of poop instead of the $10. But yeah! I wanna see the non-bitten nails of doom!
Or in otherwords as Rab Describes a Crackheads Nails
I could never let mine grow that much. They start to bug me when they get to any decent length, so I cut them :)

Yes, yes it does. On top of that, mass-cascading quotes are cool looking.
Why dont you just type their name?
Cause that wouldn't result in cool quote cascades, duh.
