Title: New Metallica - The Day That Never Comes
Post by: Armin on August 22, 2008, 11:29:22 pm
The title must be referring to the day new Metallica is as good as the old.

I define "The Black Album" as the beginning of new Metallica, and "...And Justice For All" as the end of old Metallica.

The good news is, if the rest of the album is anything like 5:20-end, then I place this album between The Black Album and Justice For All, and call it "The Broken Bridge - New Metallica Attempts Old Metallica."

It's definitely not as riffy and angry as old Metallica, but hopefully it's because it's the ballad like everyone says.

There are a few decent riffs from 5:20-end, and 1 good solo. I'd say anyone who's was an old Metallica fan at any point should at least listen to this section out of curiosity.

Remember Tomorrow (studio) and Cyanide (live) are on their myspace page.

I've heard Cyanide before, and it's nothing but a failed attempt at sounding like old Metallica, which is why I didn't post it.

Remember Tomorrow is an Iron Maiden cover, and won't be on the album.

Oh, I'd never heard Remember Tomorrow before so I assumed it was a new original. The intro sounding like the intro to Creeping Death sort of (falsely) confirmed my belief, so eh.

The shittyness of the first ~5 mins of the song really make the decent solo and good riffs at the end sound better.

I take it you didn't like One either, then?

Not really. Also, I recognize the quick hammer on riff at the end from something... If not Dark Angel, then something a lot like them.

The day Metallica starts ripping off Dark Angel riffs is the day I buy another Metallica CD

But they do it in a much more whiney, annoying way.

Moar liek The Album That Never Comes, since every Metallica album since Reload has felt like it was going to be "Metallica's comeback album"

I couldn't ever justify buying another Metallica CD, for any reason. The amount of damage they've done to the music industry is unforgivable in my book. I don't even want to steal their music any more.

You know, it *is* possible to dislike Dark Angel. Hell, I don't like them.

Yeah, I don't think they're that great either.  Of course, most of the music that Newby/muffin listen to gets the "mediocre" label from me. :)

No offense, of course.  I'm pretty sure they disapprove of most of the music I listen to, lol.

If the end of this song is what makes you think the new Metallica album might be good, don't even bother downloading it, or you are in for quite the disappointment. The best album they have put out since the black album, but that is not saying much, still garbage.
