Title: Conficker on 60 minutes
Post by: nslay on March 29, 2009, 11:53:46 pm
So apparently the Conficker worm is so bad that it got a segment on 60 minutes.  Beware, it was said that on April 1st it will get new instructions.  Considering that some 10 million or so are infected, this scares me.  But seriously, aren't there people so incredibly ticked off at worms and viruses that they make their own anti-worm worms and anti-virus viruses (viruses/worms that clean out viruses/worms forcibly).

Heh, that would be awesome.  A worm that exploits the same thing as Conficker that cleans the virus.  :P

Conficker patches the vulnerability it uses to get in, so writing a worm to clean it is easier said than done. :)

I happened to see this 60 minutes episode (happened to be on while eating at my mother-in-law's house).  It was mostly a lot of overhype to scare non-computer savvy users.  They didn't really even talk about Conficker much.
