Title: iPod OS?
Post by: iago on December 29, 2004, 05:21:20 pm
I'm thinking about partitioning off space on my iPod and putting an OS on it.  Then I can boot any computer off the iPod and have a friendly configured Linux environment.  I'd probably just put security/pentest software there to give me a portable kit.  I talked to a guy at work, and he said it's possible to do.  But does anybody have any resources or references about how that could be done?

I saw a thing about this on Tech TV (before it became the shitty G4TV).  There already is an iPod OS and file struct on there that's hidden, but you can expose it by getting some program and then hooking up the iPod.  I forget what it is, but I'll see if I can find it.

I'm going to put it on my Usb Harddrive first, just to find out if there's any nasty surprises with installing on USB.  I'm in the process of cleaning that up anyway.
