Title: 5 objects?
Post by: Joe on November 22, 2005, 05:35:21 pm
You were in a room. There were two objects in this room.

You moved to another room. There were three objects in this room.

There are four objects in total. How is this possible?

NOTE -
Based on a real-life situation!

You could be an object.

You could be an object.

I agree.  The person is an object.  Also, I'm naked, so I don't have any clothes that count as objects.

If you were wearing the clothes, it'd all be one entity, so I'd still consider it just one object.

I don't know, even if I'm wearing pants I still consider the pants to be a separate object from me.

I'd better walk into the room naked, just to be sure..

But I'd still consider Little Ron a separate entity because sometimes it has a mind of it's own o_O

Not necessarily a mind of its own, but rather, a shared mind.  To yours, that is.

You took an object from room #1 with you into room #2?

Bingo.

EDIT -
It might not be to aparent, but I had to do some nice work with making it all past tense, so that I'm not specifically saying that the room still had all its objects when you left it.

Btw, I think counting yourself as an object is at least as good of an answer.

It's basically the same answer, I guess, since you take yourself with you :)

All the objects are exactly (to the naked eye, at least, lets not get technical) the same.

(16:25:09) Joe: The real life situation was, in the kitchen, there were two cups. I came to my room and counted 3 cups, and had to make up for the extra cup, realized I brought it down with me, and posted that riddle =p

The riddle didn't say that.

I can reenact the situation my way, if you'd like.  I have 2 cups in my bedroom, and there's 2 on the table.

So there are 3 objects in my room.  *leaves room*.  Now there are 3 objects in the other room.  GG I win.
