Title: AP Exam results.
Post by: dark_drake on July 05, 2006, 03:37:19 pm
I declare this the official thread.  For any AP exams you took, post your scores if you want.

Mine:
GOV&POL US: 5
CALCULUS AB: 5

Well, they just came today.  Needless to say, I'm relieved.

For?
If it's AP exams, it's 5.  Those are the only ones I've ever taken.

Mine still haven't come! I don't think I selected a college to submit it to though, and I think that's the only time they report them.

Monster. I got a 3 on my APWH test, but it was really boring.

I got a 1 on Calc AB and a 2 on Physics C.  Some how i think my school fucked me over though.  I had an A in Calc while the rest of the class struggled to get C's and an A+ in physics.  So either my school fucked up the exams some how or i just dreamed that the tests were easy.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. That's pretty weird though, seeing as how most teachers give you work that is harder than what is actually ON the exam (at least at my school they do for calculus) but eh? Perhaps it is a fluke. Can't you have them re-grade it for like $20? $20 is worth it if you really think you got a 4-5...

At my school, the teacher gets paid extra for each 3 and above. It was definitely the reason my AP Stat class was harder than the exam(my teacher even admitted it). It's the same with other high schools in my area too. I wouldn't know about where you live however  :-\.

What's funny is that as far as I know, nobody in the AP stats class (a class specifically designed for the AP stats course) got a 5, yet my friend (Pre-Calc Honors/AP Stats in the same class, twice the amount of material to cover) got a 5. He even left one of the free response questions completely blank.

Strange, as I don't remember anything strongly relating to Pre-Calc on there. With the onset of the graphing calculator, the mathematical portion of stat is meaningless, and all you have to do is memorize the formula/inference statements, which I don't think a Pre-Calc teacher would necessarily prepare you any more for than a full time AP Stat teacher. I don't know the teacher personally or anything, so I probably have a biased judgment.

They took you through the pre-calculus course to prep you for AP calculus.

Well, everyone in my Calc class managed to pass with an A.  However, the other two that took the AP Calc exam only received 1's.  Of course, the other students that took the test blame the teacher; they say he was a crappy teacher, but I never had a problem with his teaching.

My teacher was fine.  My school has a problem with poor guidance/administration.  They probably lost my multiple choice section or something.

I haven't gotten mine back yet. I can honestly say I don't expect them to be high.

I win.  I win.  My school sucks.  My friend, the valedvictorian, took 3 tests and got all 1's.  No possible way that we combined got 4 1's and a 2.  We are smarter than that.

That's really weird. I'd personally submit for a re-grade.

LMAO, I don't know how it is in your school so I won't comment, but in my school, being a valedictorians means absolutely nothing in the way of ability. There were five co-valedictorians (don't ask).  Three of the co-valedictorians took the AP Calc Exam.  I was the only one who passed it.  The other two recieved ones.  Also, one of them only got a 2 of the AP Gov. exam.  The other got a 3.  I would like to know how the other two did on their gov. exams, though.

On a related side note, one of the co-valedictorians from two years ago went on to college to fail Calculus and Chemistry.

I'm pretty sure it's the same everywhere.  If you have the highest GPA (which means absolutely nothing) then you're valedictorian.

It's not like that anymore.

No this kid is pretty much perfection.  They almost had a special ed kid be valevictorian one year so the classes are weighted beyond belief.  He took the same classes as all the other smart kids and ended up nearly .5 ahead of everyone in GPA.

Ok, I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say that the chances of your administration screwing up on 4 exams are really slim, but it's by no means impossible.  If you really think you did better, get it re-graded.

Also, all the co-valedictorians at my school were in the same core classes.  And as it has been stated before on this forum, GPA is not an extremely accurate measure of intelligence.

Enrolment, participation and success in any [high school] course means little more than motivation, in my opinion.

I tend to agree. :\

Especially in high school where most classes are managable by anyone with a normal amount of intelligence and/or high amount of motivation or interest.
