Title: <insert mad face here>
Post by: deadly7 on August 20, 2006, 02:56:21 pm
So, I go to reinstall Windows today onto a Seagate 120gb 7200rpm Ultra ATA/100 Barracuda hard drive, which requires me turning off my computer and adding the hard drive (making it the fourth in there).  Well, I install it fine, BIOS recognizes it. but Windows doesn't.  I put in the Windows XP cd to reinstall with and it says "No hard drives detected" which registers as a huge 'what the fuck' in my head.  =\

Haha. That drive is bigger than your current 3 drives put together. lol!

Sucks for you. I was surprised when the Windows CD detected my SATA drive back when I used Windows, but eh?

No.  I have three 120's, including that one.

Yeah.  -.-  How did Windows detect your SATA drive without drivers???! WTF?

It was a SP2 CD.

Yeah, you have to hit "F6" near the beginning of the install sequence to install the SATA drivers if this happens.

So is mine.  I don't have SATA drives, though.

See above.  Also, I think the install cd makes it rather obvious of what to do when.. lmao.

Edit: So, I kind of fixed the drives not being detected.. I think.  I just switched where the IDE cables were.  The first master and its slave are now plugged into the motherboard.  The second master and its slave are plugged into the extra IDE ports I have installed on a PCI card. :D  Maybe I should reboot with the install disc now.

Haha, I thought it was a SATA drive.  I merged two of your posts somehow. :P

Also, it's not very obvious if you're in the mindset I'm normally in during a simple install such as Windows: unobservant and overlooking.  It flashes for about two seconds... :P

Regardless.  I'd rather open an exe (obviously being on the low end of computer knowledge) and think I was about to get porn than have to click something again..

So.. how do you disable that? Anyone? ANYONE?

This message brought to you by Slackware.. having four hard drives (three that spin at 7200RPM, one that spins at 5400RPM) means super high heatz0rpwnd hard drives.. and I still need to download drivers for the pci -> ide card that I have.. so my bro is getting a fan and putting it in the computer and then it should be better and I can use it.

If the program is not signed by Windows then it is considered unsafe. If more people would digitally sign their programs then there would be no problem.

Good fucking GOD!  What the hell is wrong with Gaim?  I install anew and it won't connect to MSN!  Every time it's at the "Getting cookie..." stage of the connect, it makes Gaim lock up and crash.

Gaim blows on Windows, I've had nothing but problems with it.  I use Trillian for Windows. ;/

It's a known issue with gaim.  I think they're working on it.  Quik was telling me about it earlier this week.

Well, I was sort of devoid of a computer I didn't want to break (and Windows), so I didn't really know.  :p
