Sometimes I get really sad living in this country. This is not one of them.

That was what I was getting at. I'm not going vegetarian - I'm simply doing healthier things. Like eating salads and taking multi-vitamins.

;)
If you eat healthy you don't need multi-vitamins. Don't load up on the red meats, opt for lean white meat instead. Have multiple types of fruits throughout the day, and if you eat salads that covers your subsistence from vegetables.

GOD NO. I just stopped eating burritos all day. Which blows, but hey, salads can be okay from time to time.
Minor pet peeve: vegetarianism != salads. I personally don't like salad.

WTH is in Nicaragua...?
Drugs?

iago's very perceptive for a Canuck. I went down with a church and set up a medical clinic in Bluefields, Nicaragua. Lots of drugs were handed out, given that we saw over 2,200 patients.

General Discussion / Re: Breaking Prediction Methods

The amount of people that would care to do this is such a statistically insignificant portion of Facebook users that it wouldn't even register as anomolous to companies that record this data. I have Facebook friends who will, in a given day, like 10-15 things, and are now at five to six thousand Liked pages. I don't have the time, and more importantly don't care enough, to make those kinds of numbers.

Also, if you build up enough of a profile clicking weird, obscure shit, that is as personally identifying as anything else. I think I read a math or CS paper describing that the number of people to "Like" consecutive groups decreased by a factor of n or n^2, so after X number of likes there was a 95+% probability you could be uniquely identified. I may be wrong though.

The only option is to take your ball and go home. Or do what I do and do almost nothing on Facebook. I have a "status update" once every 2 weeks, tops, and maybe 3-4 posts on a Wall a week.

General Programming / Perl Getopts question
« on: June 09, 2011, 06:25:44 pm »
Relevant code:

Code: [Select]
use strict;
use Getopt::Std;
my %options;
getopts('hdPp:remno', \%options);

I want to call the help sub [which displays a help message] if either of the two following conditions are met:
1. the h flag is specified
2. getopts returns NO command-line options.

Here's what I've tried, with various errors
Quote
help() if($options{'h'} || !defined \%options || !defined $options);

Anybody know what I'm doing wrong? Googling hasn't returned what I'm looking for. :-\

Yeah, I know that.  Probably a bad choice of words.  Perhaps I should have said main stream or something.
Or you could have said "outwardly prevalent".
