I believe OEM and retail versions of Windows use different keys, so I'd be really surprised if it worked.
What're the specs on your new box and how much did you pay? I've been pondering a new desktop a lot lately..

You guys all fail at relationships.

Why do you say that? Just cause a chick offered me $ to cuddle with her and I turned her down?! Jeez...

I don't think I need to explain how retarded that reasoning is.  I guess it comes down to a differing opinion of what friendship means.  I've always defined a friend as someone who wouldn't further his own agenda at my expense.  From what I've learned about you in this thread, I don't think I'd want to be your friend, especially if you consider this guy a "good" friend.  Sometimes people are worth the trouble if you actually care about them.  One reason I can't stand people in general is their selfishness and need for immediate gratification.

While the reasoning is retarded, it is infact reasoning. What you're suggesting is comparable to killing a person and then not looting the corpse because it would be morally wrong.

In this case I should have stated that they are both in-fact good friends. So your suggestion of betraying one by telling him what happened could easily end up costing me another. Basically at the end of the day the benefits of doing the right thing don't come close to overcoming the consequences...

I never said I was a decent or respectable person either, so I can definitely understand not wanting to be my friend, it happens.

moral of the story?
GROW BALLS and own up to your fuckin mistake.  You'll regret it if you dont.  be man enough to be able to admit you fucked up.
dont wander forward unwaivering in your ways when you know youre wrong, dont be like Bush (lol)

I was looking at it from the point of view that, well in order for my conquest of the world to be complete someones going to have to be crushed. May as well be him, right?

Rule: I'm not sure how the act was selfish, but yeah the not saying anything is. Of course I would want to know, however I can't justify the reason for actually telling him right now. I.E. it'd cause me more trouble than its worth. Sure, its not exactly the ethical thing to do, but I think ethics went out the window when the clothes came off...

But I'm not telling him, especially when she doesn't plan on staying with him that much longer. The situation sucks though and maybe Zorm's is less confusing (which it probably is because she isn't an ex.)

I only wish that were the case. See my two friends have a very fucked up relationship. Its oftentimes out of the realm of my understanding. Like she took me home for Easter dinner with her family and such while he went out to party with another girl at a friends house. Keep in mind I'd only really 'talked' to her for like 2ish weeks at this point(and mostly because she got dragged along to a lot of activities).

So yeah I would tell my friend but she didn't want to make her relationship any worse with him(although I'm not sure thats possible, since they both talked about dumping each other off and on since I've known them). And the other bigger reason is that aside from being a friend hes a coworker so I'd end up seeing him around all the time anyways. There really isn't a good solution =/

zorm, youre a complete douche...trust, so are you if you did hit it (maybe slightly less than zorm since it wasnt your friend's girlfriend)

I know, but she provoked me and I didn't really think she'd go that far as it was defintely something we had talked about not doing.

A female friend spent the night at my place the other day. I feel kind of bad about it because shes in a relationship with a good friend. Oh well, right?

If she didn't sleep WITH you, I think you're fine... -_-
yeah...did you hit it?
Yes...

General Discussion / Re: Dorm Room Essentials
« on: July 04, 2007, 01:50:36 am »
I know I never really wore socks, I could easily go two weeks without doing laundry but I might end up having to rewear a pair or two of socks in that period. Thats not really as bad as it sounds because normally my sock/shoe wearing was limited to just the time it took for class or whatever. So I definitely wouldn't stress over it, you'll figure out a system that you like and adapt to it.

I also took more or less all the clothes I owned, note that I lacked any real 'dress' up type clothes though. I managed to fill two decent size bags with all my clothes and that served me fine for my year in the dorms. In fact it was probably an excessive number of clothes to be completely honest.

Food and stuff I wouldn't really worry about, you definitely can't keep a years supply in your room so you may as well not stress over what you end up with to start with. You'll definitely want more/something different later on.

I totally wear sandels with pants all the time, its just easier to do sometimes. That said, if I ever think I'm going to be in a spot where I might need shoes I go ahead and wear them(ala storm chasing).

General Discussion / Re: Paris Hilton
« on: June 09, 2007, 01:34:55 am »
Ok, first of all, it was reduced to a 23 day sentence.  That wasn't speculation.  Look up "paris hilton 23 day" on google, and a number of news sources will confirm that.  Second, I agree that having the sentence reduced for "good behavior" was inappropriate, but once it was done it should not be reversed
Third, I think it's obvious why the sheriff re-assigned her.

Actually, all the reliable news sources(CNN, Fox News, AP) I've seen indicate that her sentence was not reduced to 23 days.
Hilton, 26, was originally sentenced to 45 days in jail for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case, but had been expected to serve 23 days because of state rules allowing shorter sentences for good behavior.

I also found another site that indicated part of the good behavior 'rules' are actually California state law and that things like her showing up for court dates helps her. Another note of interest is that Sheriff Lee Baca supposedly received a $1,000 donation from a relative of Paris sometime last year, and hes that one that released her so everything isn't as "clean" as one might hope.

I still haven't seen anything that indicates that Paris will have to serve the full 45 days in jail now, and afterall if the good behavior rules are infact a law then the judge will not be able to override them and she'll get out after 23.

Yeah, I realized after that that was a bad source. I was hoping nobody would actually read the link, since that's what generally happens :P

Either way, the difference is that mines' sole purpose for existing is to kill random people.

Not true at all. For one there are different types of mines. The US employs land mines and antipersonnel mines(some can be configured into land mine status). So blatently saying "mines are bad" is false. They also aren't ment for killing random people they are normally targeted at things like defense in which case they will be killing the guy trying to attack you.

BTW, US policy today is such that land mines have to be recorded very specifically as to their location and such so that we can go back and fetch them at a later date if they are left behind. Its almost to a point where putting mines out is more of a pain than it is worth.

As far as treaty's go thats all a wash. A treaty never stopped anyone from doing something and you'll notice that most of the accidents with land mines today are from mines left over from earlier wars. So its not like telling a country to destroy all the mines they have in stockpile now is going to change anything...
