Hey guys

We've gotten a foot of snow in the last ~12 hours. It's projected to keep going, and then temps to drop below 0F.

This shit sucks. I better not lose internet.

Further, like I previously suggested, what's to stop secret black ops shit?  The mere existence of such entities is pretty much illegal, why would they operate within the law?
Haven't read the rest of this thread, but if you're referencing the existence of Wikileaks being illegal and your "black ops shit" means to secretly kill Julian, that's one of the dumbest political moves you can make. Apart from coming out and admitting that the docs are all accurate (which, thanks to all the FUD the gov't has spread about it is already confirmed), if you kill the face of the opposition you martyrize him. People may not go to arms, but then Wikileaks will never be forgotten. Releasing shit on the web is easy; kill Assange and an extremely large amount of nationals as well as internationals will now be mirroring Wikileaks.

Yeah and today is another slow ass day for this forum but who cares? That joke doesn't even bother me. I mean I was voted out of the clan and "welcomed" by iago to keep posting here despite the jokes and stuff. You would think you guys would want to keep active posters like me around but it seems you value your sense of humor more than the forum.
You get the impression any of us cares that this place isn't teeming with new posts. I'd rather have fewer posts and less drivel than listen to your stupid shit. Even Crazed has contributed useful or semi-useful things.

End of the semester is just a pain in the ass. I thought I was supposed to be focusing on my classes, doing a few research projects with another graduate student, and reading some of the material. Of course, that's not all.  My adviser shot me an email this morning asking if I've contacted the research facility I'll be visiting in a few months. My reply was, "Not yet." Seriously, I've had his contact information for 3 weeks, but it's only been the last few days I've actually received a copy of the proposals and whatnot. Ugh... wtf?
Please start reading PHD. It's true on so many realms...

I'm sure there are plenty of Linux users who like guns, and plenty who hate them, and even more who have no strong opinions. In fact, I expect those numbers to be roughly proportional to the population at large, and likely linked to where the person lives.
I'd actually disagree. The population of users that use linux is, typically, not at all representative of the population as a whole. From what I've seen geeks fall into one of the two extremes of: "gov't can leave me and my guns alone" or "guns are bad, mmkay?"

*Most* veggie burgers are vegan, in my experience, but there are a few who aren't.
You're talking about the actual patty, aren't you? People choose different topics.

No I'm not.

I'm also not socially conservative, including on gay rights.

Generalizations are probably the most effective arguments in your arsenal, however, so I can understand.
Allow me to demonstrate:

Well, it's not significantly different from people saying, "I want to sleep with her" or similar.

It is a pretty funny way to put it, I've never heard somebody word it quite like that before. But "I wanted to fuck him" or "I wanted to sleep with him" don't seem significantly cleaner, so I'm not sure how else you'd put it.
Trust is a conservative republican. The only way to put it is:
"I originally wanted to fornicate with this male compatriot, but the good lord Jesus Christ, in all His power, managed to turn my hellforsaken soul onto the path of purity and chastity until I meet my one true female."

In other news, I still really have no idea what my research project will be. It's either going to be repeating a bunch of experiments using a new technique, continuing some computational fluid dynamics, or both. No one really knows right now. That, or they're all just keeping secrets. :(
You'll probably be double-dipping in both. Chem (not chemE) grads I know spend about 50/50 time doing synthetic work and doing computational work. I can't imagine why it would be different for you.
