This is what was going on in the Terminal.  JavaOp was parsing it into normal text, and everything was fine, but why did this happen?

General Programming / Re: [JAVA] Calculate Pi!

Yeah I saw something I knew about, and decided to go ahead and post about it.  I didn't read past page 2.  Oops  ;D ;D

e is like pi, I believe.  My ti-83 says it's approximately 2.71828182.  If by "like infinity" you mean not a number, then no, it's a number.  It's more like Pi in that they are both irrational numbers.  I would, however, relate it more closely to phi (phi is approximately 1.618...), because both were discovered frequently in nature.  Phi is a very interresting number.

-EDIT-
Quote
The only possible way I could think to produce ∞ from an equation would be x*0=0. But as that is undefined, I do not see any other way.
x*0 equals 0.  It's defined as 0, isn't it?  anything * 0 is 0, or so I thought.

General Discussion / Re: MySpace creates own record label
« on: November 14, 2005, 07:35:26 pm »
There's an article in November of this year's Wired magazine about MySpace becomming the next generation's MTV.  The article says that MySpace got more hits than google lin august, around 9.4 bn pageviews.  It's launched the careers of quite a few groups in the past few years, including Fall Out Boy, My chemical Romance, Reliaent K, and some band called Silverstein.  I don't personally hold a MySpace site, but I think there's an age requirement of some sort, 18, but I could be wrong.  Either way, it's apparently popular (over 3.5 MILLION new subscribers each month), and it made the creators, Chris DeWolfe and Tom Anderson filthy rich.

Well, I saw a dev forum, so I figured my programming background applied.  ;D

Interresting facts:
I've been hanging around battle.net for about 4 or 5 years now.  Over that span, I've joined and quit a bunch of clans, organizations, groups, teams, cults, and other things.  Mostly, however, I've spent the time in the USEast channel Open Tech Support.

I've dabbled in a bunch of different programming languages, namely C++, Java, PHP, and Perl.  I guess it could be said that I'm just an overall comp sci nerd.  The only language I've completed a formal class in is C++, and so naturally I feel that's my strongest language.  That is, however, about to change, as I am taking a Java class right now, and I plan on taking another one during the second semester of my junior year.

I golf during the fall, swim during the winter, and play volleyball during the spring.  This makes for a very full daytime schedule, however, I don't sleep very much, so during the night I am most active online.

I know a few members of x86 from one of the clans I was formerly In, sL, on USEast.  That clan was quite active and most fun for about 2 weeks, over the holidays.  If some of you may recall, I'm quite the poker God  ;D.  Tommy said that a bunch of those guys were in this clan, so I decided to check it out.
