In November 2007 I called these three CAPTCHA implementations "unbreakable":

Google
(unbreakable)

Hotmail
(unbreakable)

Yahoo
(unbreakable)

08 is shaping up to be a very bad year indeed for CAPTCHAs:

    * Jan 17: InformationWeek reports Yahoo CAPTCHA broken
    * Feb 6: Websense reports Hotmail CAPTCHA broken
    * Feb 22: Websense reports Google CAPTCHA broken

Heh, I don't like captchas too much, either, but I agree with him that they're kind of necessary.  So.. now that the best of them are broken, what happens?

Does anyone here play?  It's practically Counter-Strike 2.0, but the difference is, this time it's fun.

Edit: I'm talking about multi player.  It's fun.  :)

The government of Pakistan has blocked access to YouTube because of video clips posted on the popular Web site that officials considered anti-Islamic, according to a media report.

The country's 70 Internet service providers have been told by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority that access to the Web site would be blocked until further notice, the Associated Press reported, citing an unnamed source.

Heh, censorship will make everything better!

So, I saw it today.  It is a monster movie in the sense of "Godzilla" but it didn't really play out like one.  The way the film was shot made me feel motion sick all throughout the movie and I really couldn't see myself wanting to see it again, mostly because it had very little of a story.  I hope the sequel (if they make one) has more of a story then this did.  It's really hard talking about the movie without giving away what happened, because so little happened.  The effects were standard movie explosions we all had way before 2004 so really nothing outstanding there.  The way they used the camera is a neat idea, but there was way too much movement to make it that great.  The monster in the movie did look pretty cool, though, you know, for the 5-7 scenes (about 2 out of 90 minutes of the movie) in the movie it shows it.

So, overall, nothing I haven't seen before other than one or two things.

There’s a fine line between humor and condescension; more than a few customers felt that hosting provider Dreamhost crossed that line today.

The company overbilled nearly every customer, by a total $7.5 million dollars.

Well, a while ago Workplace Safety & Insurance Board Canada made some commercials that were pretty graphic.  Today, I found them on Youtube!

Oh, and some people complained about it on the Internet or something.

http://www.nekogames.jp/mt/2008/01/cursor10.html

Haha, this game is a really neat and fun idea.  Basically:  You have 10 cursors, that you can use.  Each round you can control one cursor and do anything you want in the levels, the next round you get a new one, but the one you used previously does what you did previously. By round 10, you've got 10 cursors doing what you've already done to achieve success!  The goal of the game is reach level 16, which requires you to cooperate with yourself.  :)

I suck at explaining things, but this is a really neat game.  I did beat it (minus one point, because I missed something somewhere, lol) after three goes.

General Discussion / Mercury Forum Theme
« on: January 04, 2008, 03:35:05 pm »
I uploaded the newest version of the Mercury theme for SMF, so now it has the AJAX-quick edit thing and a whole bunch of other stuff it was missing.  If anyone (I think it was 4 people? lol) was using the old version, you probably are going to have to reselect it here.
