Yeah, its pretty much certainly a hardware problem.

I'll check the connections next time I'm forced to shutdown / restart (I don't want to since it takes 15 minutes). :(

I just got a $200 Check from Science Service, maybe I'll buy a few new drives...

As for using Linux, I can't. I'm a WoW addict, remember? :)

Hey Everyone,

Lately, my computer's been acting very strangely. Yesterday, I left my computer for about 10 minutes and came back to a Blue Screen. I thought little of it (since it happens sometimes) and restarted my computer. The start process took a VERY long time (about 10-15 minutes). When it got past the Windows XP loading screen, my display went black for 9-14 minutes (or there-abouts). After this, it came up to the Blue Screen and I was forced to restart again. I tried the Windows XP Repair function, did the same thing.

I backed up everything and did a complete format/reinstall (I even burned a fresh copy of the CD). The boot sequence still takes forever, but when I'm able to get to the login screen. That "locks up" for another 5 minutes or so, and then my computer operates normally.

Any ideas on whats wrong/what to do? My first guess is a Hard Drive issue, but I'm hoping that's not the case since I just replaced the disk a few months ago.

Thanks in advance.

Well it seesm that cisco has really gotten this VoIP stuff down, a lot of people who are complaining about Vonage either have internet that doesn't have a constant and consisitant connection or are using another adapter.

Yes, the phone system has worked flawlessly.

Actually, it was kinda neat. A while ago, the power got cut to our whole town, but since our POE switches were on a UPS, our phones were up for about 15 minutes after the blackout. I went to go call the net admin on a phone in a dark room and then realized "Hey, these are workign! What the hell?!" Haha, it was kind of neat.

Wow, thanks Sidoh, that POE looks pretty interesting form what I've read on google.
I was also looking at that Vonage service, which comes with a free cisco adapter, and is just 24 bucks a month for unlimited everything.

Good deal.

Oh yeah - should have mentioned: we're using Cisco EVERYTHING for the VoIP system. I've a "Cisco IP Phone 7940 Series" sittin' on this desk. :)

Has anybody tried it yet?  I'm just trying to see if its worth it.

My school district uses a Voice Over IP system and its awesome. It has POE (Power Over Ethernet), which is also really nice. No power adaptors (assuming the network run you're using is plugged into a switch that supports POE).

I don't know how practical it would be for home/small office use, but for bigger things like schools/companies, its defenitely the way to go.

My god, and you make 2G a month for starting out? That's insane, but hey.. In all good words, that's a good way to start. Money is money and work is work. Good job and good luck
I make the same, starting :P

But moving out depends on your parents a lot.  My parents are rarely home (they work evenings), and they trust me 100%, they never nag, they buy me food, they don't charge me rent.  It's great!

With my luck, my parents are going to let me take my computer and boot me out. I'm not even sure where I want to go to college yet. :(

Tuberlord: contrats even though I don't know you! :P

What aboot FAT32  ???
Thats a silly question. :P

FAT32 is an old, outdated file system. IIRC, it doesn't even have security settings for different users! I doubt FAT32 could do this. :P
