Unix / Linux Discussion / Opera Image - Not Showing Up
« on: March 06, 2010, 03:28:57 pm »
I'm working on a website, and this is really starting to anger me.  The banner of the site won't show up in Opera on Linux, but it shows up in every browser on Windows (even Opera T.T) and every non-Opera browser in Linux:

Should look like this:

General Discussion / Windows XP - Requires...something else...
« on: January 12, 2010, 12:23:29 pm »
So today I decided to crack open my computer and give it a good cleaning.  All went pretty well, and I got it all back together and hooked up.  Turned it on, went through the motions....and Windows failed critically during the boot screen.  "What the hell?" was the first thing to pop into my mind, shortly followed by a bunch of thoughts that are far too indecent to post.

So, I unhooked everything, opened it up again, and checked all the connections.  They were all good and nothing was interfering with anything else, so I hooked up the essentials and tried again.  Same thing.

I've since checked everything four times over.  The absolute only difference is that there is a lot less dust in my machine.  So, everyone, get out your Windows software boxes and write the following in under operating requirements: LOTS OF DUST

New Project Announcements / [VB.NET] Rebirth
« on: November 08, 2009, 01:54:07 pm »
Rebirth is a completely new version of AbyssBot, only a billion times better.  A bunch of the BnetConnection class is based off of Lead's Hyperion project, and the interface is (admittedly), a tad similar.  I've been working on it for a couple weeks now, I think, and it's coming along nicely.

Right now I'm going for complete customizationablityness.

Some pictures, some of which are kind of old:

That last one is just a PoC about custom colors.  I have since deleted that color scheme for the good of all humankind.

http://fastflip.googlelabs.com/

Pretty neat.  I found a bunch of stuff on there that was interesting.  I also found a bunch of tech articles that didn't show up on Slashdot.

It needs a way to Like a page with the keyboard, though.  And it got an update while I was reading!  That was cool.

General Discussion / Tokyo > Canada
« on: September 12, 2009, 06:31:53 pm »
Apparently Greater Tokyo (which means the city proper and continuous urban areas), according to a UN survey of 2007, has a population of 35,676,000.
All of Canada, according to an estimate from 2008, puts the population at 33,212,696.

Holy crap.

General Programming / 0x7c809e22 = Crash
« on: September 10, 2009, 12:14:57 pm »
I've been working on a new bot in VB6, and ever since I started using BNCSUtil, My IDE has started randomly crashing (really randomly, like when making a new line in a module when I'm not running it).

Last night I installed VS 2008, and ever since it's been catching the crash in its debugger:

From what I can tell, it's got something to do with instantiation of objects not being done correctly, which somehow corrupts memory (keep in mind I've only been able to find info about this in German and I think Portuguese).

Anyone have any idea what might be causing thins (within BNCSUtil)?

[edit]
Also, I've been able to narrow down a few possible causes:
1) kd_free() - If I don't use kd_free, VS6 doesn't crash until
2) doubleHashPassword() - This always causes a crash

General Discussion / Forum Software
« on: August 27, 2009, 08:19:22 pm »
iago has stated that he won't update the forum to a non-release version that would potentially cause problems for a lot of users.  So, I've come to you, the users, to find out what you want.

Current Software
Pros
We've been using it for a while, so we know how it works.
It's still well supported.

Cons
The permissions are (apparently) the spawn of Satan

New Software
Pros
It's just as well supported as the current software
Many new features and fixes (like permissions - they've been cleaned up)

Cons
It's been labeled as RC for a long time
