Academic / School / Re: Next Year's Classes
« on: April 03, 2006, 04:41:29 pm »
last year our valedictorian had a 4.7 or 4.8.... I can't remember. Wait... we had 3 last year... it was gay.

Honestly, I think the largest constituent of GPA by an overwhelming amount is determination.  While this is obviously a great trait in a person, I honestly don't think someone's GPA is an accurate reflection of their intelligence.  Our valedictorian this year is pretty smart, but I don't think she's nearly as smart as a few other people in my class. *cough*

We'll probably have 5 valedictorians this year :|

Of course valedictorians aren't always the brightest, but they played the game, and that matters much, much more than someone saying how smart they are with a 2.5 GPA.

AP classes are designed to be college-level and extremely difficult.  Many college students don't even have 6 classes per day. If you can get sufficient grades in all AP classes, your school needs to re-evaluate their difficulty level. I was saying that many schools do not allow you to take more than 4 per year because, at the difficulty level they should be, it would be too much effort.

The thing is, how many classes in college do you go to 1 hour a day five days a week?  AP classes don't have you do as much work per class period I would assume. At least that's the way I see it.

You guys have no idea how lucky you are to have so many AP classes.  In my town, we have AP Gov. and AP Calc.  We also have Concurrent English.

Seriously, I'd kill to have that many AP classes.

Gaming / The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
« on: March 27, 2006, 11:55:03 pm »
I know, I know, it's been out for like ever, but it's still good.

I can't get enough of this game.  The world is simply stunning; the story is entertaing; and if you have tribunal you get people trying to kill you in your sleep (It's sweet because then you can take their armor and sell it for lots of money).

The various sidequests are also fun.  Of course they are usually the go kill this guy, fetch this, deliver this item, etc,. but the open-endedness to each quest never ceases to amaze me.

Also, levelling up in Morrowind is much better than most other RPG's in my opinion.  Rather than getting a certain amount of experience from killing a critter or NPC, you gain experience by using various skills.  If you want to be a thief, you can gain levels through practicing your thievery and what not.  If you want to be a mage, you gain levels by using your magic.  The possibilities are endless as you can choose from a list of classes or even create your own :D

Has anyone else played it?

Blizzard, WoW and Bots / Re: Gold Farming is against the rules?
« on: March 27, 2006, 11:33:33 pm »
Actually, farming and selling gold fucks with World of Warcraft's economy. Say chinese_farmer194 obtained a badass epic while farming for other items. Chinese_farmer194 sells it for 1000g to American_raider194. Now, the 1000g that American_raider194 saved up came from selling many different items on the auction house. Guess where the money that other people payed with for American_raider194's items came from? That's right, them selling items to more people. Now, Chinese_farmer194 isn't using the 1000g he just got to buy more items from other people, but to sell the gold for real money. The person who usually buys the gold just bought the game and spend all of their money on items that become useless at end game content, and they spend it all at vendors. The money no longer circulates, and the 1000g that was brought up by selling certain items to vendors is now gone.
My experience is that the credit/gold farmers typically raise prices.  The person who bought the gold can then afford many more things, and he will bid outrageous amounts.  People see this item actually sell for said outrageous price, and they start selling theirs for that much.  I don't know, most of my experience is with SWG, though, where the economy was (still is sort of) entirely player driven.

Anyone is dangerous enough to kill someone, why don't they execute all the people in there for grand theft auto or robbery? That's bullshit.
For some reason, I highly doubt Teri Schiavo was capable of killing someone in the last years of her life...

j/k :P

How far is UW from CSU (Fort Collins)?

Dude, go to grad school at MIT.

I don't know how far it is.

And yeah, I'd like to go to grad school when I get done with my first bachelors, just not sure where.

Well, I asked my neighbor out to the movies, and got shot down. >:(. Apparently she was "waiting for someone" and was unable to.

I'll get over it. Eventually. (kinda glad, actually, if I had caught a movie I would have been late for practice!)
lmao, a buddy of mine in college got shot down horribly bad one time... the girl's excuse was she had to wash her hair.

I really loved SWG before the first CU.  It was still somewhat enjoyable even after the CU.  But then the NGE came and completely killed it for me.

Have you read the Earthsea Trilogies along with the fourth book, Tehanu?  I found the books much better than the movie itself.  You should read them sometime.

My guess is he's probably read them.  He was the kid who'd finish 700 page books in a few days. :)
I used to, but then I fell out of the habit.  I don't really know what happened.  It was probably those late nights typing Earth Science notes during my freshman year.

Anyways, I'm 17, a senior in high school, and hate long walks on the beach.
I'm assuming I like rock/hard rock music.
I haven't read your rules, but I'm not in any other clans.
Favorite Movie: Earthsea
Favorite Band: Creed
Favorite Class: Calculus (really, any mathematics)
Favorite Book: I really can't believe I'm saying this, but The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand is amazing.

I'll fill more out when/if I feel like it and can remember.
