Tabletop Gaming/RPGs / Re: Long shot, Anyone still rolling dice?
« on: July 23, 2014, 10:52:01 pm »
The video game studio I work at has a dedicated area in the lounge for board games.  Roll the dice!

Nice! A couple of the other sysadmins I work with have some stuff hosted with roll20 so if we're on break or have some downtime we can get a half hour in here and there during the week. It's not much but it helps feed the addiction since finding 3-5 hours a week to roll dice becomes more and more challenging as I get older.

Nice!, We don't have as many Risk games in the area anymore but we do get together every couple months to play Diplomacy, which if you haven't tried it's Risk without dice rolling. Lately besides Pathfinder RPG we've been playing Betrayal at House on the Hill which is a spectacular game if you ever are able to find a copy that isn't stupidly expensive.

Just wondering if anyone is still enjoying their table top time, I know these aren't as frequented as normal, thought it would be fun to find out what people are playing yet if anything.

Oh, Hi everyone :)

Work driving, work, drive more, drive more, then work, got into woodworking enough to convert a shop and I'm currently making custom tabletop game tables (early development for the future man cave).  Moved over to Pathfinder system, love every minute of it. I still manage to sling dice a couple times a month which is all my schedule allows me for. I also own a Corgi now. So I guess things are going pretty well. Glad to still see familiar faces around here.

You're not on Facebook, then? :(

I've had an inactive account for years, I've recently gotten it back up i'll PM it to you in a bit.
In northern Iowa, huh?  Where abouts?

I'm located near Mason City, it's about 45 minutes from the Iowa / Minnesota border.
Ah, cool. I'm in Des Moines. :)

I was just at Jordan Creek in West Des Moines Wed for a business meeting, Did you relocate to Des Moines or have you always been there?

Good to hear. Glad you're doing well. What sort of boat are you working on restoring? Are significant amounts of water skiing and fishing in your future?

Currently the one I have is a 1969 Starcraft Holiday boat series, it has sat covered for about 10 years with leaky tarps covering it, which led to almost all of the flooring rotting away. I've stripped it down pulled the old insulation out, cleaned up the metal and I'm currently relaying the floor.

Fishing in the future a definite outlook, I'm a pretty gigantic dude, so water skiing not really my cup of tea.

I've been doing well, Happy in life, house, fenced in yard, lady-friend. Currently as far as employment goes In still working for the mid-west game store chain. I run a store on my own and on the side I travel a lot to corporate and help deploy new software / point of sale mods. We're currently looking at programming our own system from scratch so I'm on the ground level for that which is neat. On the side I work part time as a network administrator for about 15-20 nursing home outlets in north Iowa. It's a pretty piece of cake job but it gets the bills paid.

Other than that, I enjoy time restoring furniture and boats (Which is my current project at the moment).

:)

To be fair though, Bulletstorm was hideous. It was gears of war minus an actual cover system, so even if you had been able to sneak past Steam upon playing, you would have walked into a headshot right as it loaded.

I've always liked the Mass Effect and Dragon Age titles, I'm looking forward to my midnight release for it so I can crack my copy open and demo it while I'm working. I did enjoy the DLC for ME2 a lot more, both titles were pretty refreshing though.

I was lucky enough to see the killers perform in london when I was there a few years back, they really are quite a sight to see live. As far as their previous albums go they're all really well written and composed. Kind of a unique band the way they compose themselves and play.
