Since this forum is deader than a funeral I figured I'd start posting some information on 3.0 + 3.5 books that are entertaining and pretty cheap to get a hold of now a days. Today's books is one of my favorites and probably one of the best reference books you'll find for challenging encounters in dungeons and pretty much any scenario!

The book of Challenges

It's basically a in depth look at puzzles, riddles, traps and other kind of dreary things you'd find in various dungeons / crypts / confined spaces. A lot of my adventures when it comes to dungeon crawling uses this book for the riddles and traps. Most definitely a great read and you can pick the book up from eBay for about 8$ + shipping. I do have an e Book of it in case anyone still running a game would like to take a peak at it. Even if you're not running a game any past player will cringe when looking at it, and it is a fun read.

I give it a 8 / 10

Great information
Easy to read

The only downside is it is a short book and the adventure spans aren't really setup for 1st level characters (though there are some pre made templates for it)

I've been tracking this for a while, I just hope it looks as good as it should be.

It's not blowing up....it's imploding.

Yet the result is still the same for us! I'm going to go out on a limb and say Camel didn't watch the entire feed.

They setup some web-cams too!

http://www.cyriak.co.uk/lhc/lhc-webcams.html

That's really cool. Gives some perspective about what they're actually doing.

Especially the part where it shows the LHC and the parking lot outside the facility blowing up.. :P

Sorry to bump an old topic but theres a few points from the many campaigns I've ran.

You as the DM are a storyteller, but it is NOT your job to magically save characters when a mistake is made or a trap is set. Many problems with PC's is the fact they put their own personality into their character instead of playing the character inside the box so to speak. Setting DC's for not your average feats of strength / dex is common. They always had the chance of going "We're not prepared for this, lets go back and regear" Too many players are hack and slash anymore and don't realize.. "Hey we can run!". It always depends on the group you run.

If you have any questions or want tips and tricks on dungeon crawling / generic rules of thumb let me know deadly. A book will only get you so far running a campaign playing helps and making mistakes as a PC will make you a better DM.  I've incorporated a few things that a lot of my PC's got messed with in the game because it was something that is easy to rig, common to see, and takes a bit of thinking to get passed. It all depends on how you want to play it. The slayer, the thinker , the talker or maybe a bit of all three.

We do the 4D6 - low(4D6) method too, but we can pick where our values go. :P

When does 4.0 come out, and can you get me books discounted? I'd be very interested in acquiring some of them... since our group wants to try 4.0.

There's not a lot out right now as for source books best I can do is 10% off retail , 4.0 is honestly really depressing for me at least, they dumbed it down a lot and made it even more ass-backwards. As of right now there is no way to convert a 3.5 campaign to 4.0 you'd have to buy all new books.

Pre-painted miniature I had laying around from the Star Wars miniatures game. I will usually do a little modifications on minis for character value, I'll end up painting a patch over his eye and probably use some lighter tones of Grey to give his older hair and some tan to look like he has balding spots on it, the preliminary mini is pretty darn close to my look though.

Well the local comic shop I work part-time for has recently started a Star Wars campaign in honor of the new 4.0 system released and the to help spread the new system out for business I decided to jump in. The DM is quite old school with his rolling system, 4D6 keep the top 3, no re rolls, and you roll straight down the chart for stats, no switching them around. I actually rolled quite well, before modifiers of race and class I'll jot them down.

STR - 18
DEX - 14
CON - 12
INT - 14
WIS - 14
CHA - 7 (Ouch)

Looking at the str and dex it was obvious I was going to play a fighter class, but what, ladies and gentlemen I present you The Enforcer

Being I've always been partial to the wookie and the fact that I'm playing a fighter, or what in the Star Wars book is considered a soldier, I figured a wookie just makes sense. So after modifications these are my new stats!

STR - 22
DEX - 12
CON - 14
INT - 12
WIS - 12
CHA - 5 (YEEEOOOW)

So basically due to my nature of a low freaking charisma and the fact intimidations and a lot of other useful checks are based on charisma, I got added a perk of me being able to run intimidate checks if I can show a feat of strength. So I basically am missing partial fur, I took the flaw of only having one eye. So I wear a sweet eye patch until I can scavenge enough money for bionics.

We've already ran our first mission which was to rescue me from the mines of a planet since I was slaved out. I fortunately was able to get a mining pick in my possession after ripping a couple of droids apart. On a side note my entire party is scared to death of me right now due to the nature of my strength and a few good intimidate checks.

So The Enforcer and his party are on our way to a distant planet (campaign is set pre-clone wars) in order to pick up work as smugglers. I took quite a few points into mechanics and piloting so I've been pretty much setup as the pilot of our freighter we stolen borrowed and kinda of defaced and redid all the licensing and tags for it. My next game is this Thursday so I'll keep an update on it.

Ending was way too cliche. I honestly was disgusted with it, one of the more interesting parts was the painting in beginning of the movie was a replica of The Dark Tower I enjoy the slight subtleys a lot of directors will throw in there for references and symbols.
