God loves me. Pastor Craig said so.

God also loves my cable (http://ix86.cold-chaos.net/forum/index.php?topic=629.0) and wants to make sweet love to my Slackware related math (http://ix86.cold-chaos.net/forum/index.php?topic=629.msg4539#msg4539).

700 (A full CD -- MB) / 3 (3 mbps) == ~233 (seconds)
233 / 60 == 3.88333 == 4

Now, we never get what they tell us we're going to get though. Lets say worst case senario.. 1/4 the speed we're supposed to get..

4 * 4 == 16.

I can download a Slack ISO in 16 minutes.

16 * 2 == 32

I can download both Slack ISOs in 32 minutes.
What would you prefer? 32 minutes, or 12 days? (Depending on 100MB a night. I don't always get that.)

General Discussion / Proxy Server?
« on: February 13, 2005, 06:47:30 pm »
Hey, I've got two computers networked on my desk, a MacOS X box and a Windows XP box. I never connect the Mac OS X box to the internet, but I'd like to do some software updates and stuff. I've run software on my computer that ran a proxy server so that other computers on the network could ask the proxy server to go grab something, and it'd be like its on the internet, but I can't find it. Any suggestions?

PS: Yes, yes, google. I'm on my way, but if anyone knows a good one, I'll just use that.

Charter plans to run cable to my area this April, and my parents, tired of never using the internet (I'm always on), have agreed to get it the first week its available.

I'll post more information as soon as I find it. Aparently its going to be 3mbps. Whatever it is though, its going to pwn the shit out of my dial-up. It's gonna pwn the shit outta (satelite) DSL too, cuz thats an automatic 7,000MS ping.

Well, you two are both big Linux users, and I suppose you could have different prioritys than I. However, I still say that I would never bother anyone at school about it.

EDIT: I never said I wasn't going to get the new slackware. ^^.

iago, in that PM, did you mean that I have your approval, or just that I'm going in the right direction.

As for bumping threads, I don't know why its displaying all the old topics at the beginning of the forum. As soon as I find out there'll be no more bumping from me.
