I'd argue that progressive rock, jazz, and classical all have more technical prowess, as you put it, than any type of metal. Other than that though, metal is definitely ahead of the game.

What about Math Metal?

I love metal myself, and I'm not "smart" so to speak.  I think the whole article is just speculation, and random chance of the statistics for a greater number of "smart" people listen to metal.

So far i've been learning a lot of classifications.  Things like all the Phylum in the Kingdom Animalia.  I'm going to have to take some plant biology classes, so I'll probably learn all the phylum for that.  I'm in a class where I have to know all the families of reptiles, and the scientific names of local species.  Then I'll be taking a lot of anatomy.  So I guess the some up answer would be a good amount of classification and anatomy.

Anyways, being into metal yourself, do you know of the gothic metal band called Tristania? They're one of my favorite bands =].

~Ender

I have not heard of them actually

I want!  Two of the first album signed by every band member.  And another first album for listening to.

can I have $5 =D  haha but shall I infer that you enjoyed the music?

Yuuuck. Chimaira / LoG. :O

Don't worry, Bass.  His taste in music sucks.  He likes thrash metal and 80's pop. :P

Haha, duely noted Sidoh, duely noted

Ya its just Garage band with some really low quality amp simulators and patches to the computer.  We are at least Mic'ing the amps, it sounds a little better that way.

Ya that, and actually the bass on the recordings are done through a Drum machine.  I just recently joined the band about 2 weeks ago and we are currently in the process of re-recording all the songs so that they have all the actual elements and a deeper fuller sound.  If you notice the drums are also done through a drum machine, that is also something we are re-recording as soon as Cam the guitarist or Adam the drummer get a drum mic-ing kit.

Might I ask what you thought of the rough recordings?
