Working at RapLeaf. June 1 - August 18.

Interesting, I have a friend in a CS class doing an internship there this summer. I mentioned that I had a friend that had done it previously, didn't know you were doing it again. =P

Oddly enough, I never met MM even though we probably lived ~50 miles apart.

And oddly enough, I only lived in Arizona part-time and met both of you. Noobs.

I expect sorority girls to have shrill voices and say things that make me weep in agony and pity for the human race. I expect frat guys to wear pastel polos and care more about the party tomorrow night than their academics and wasted tuition.

As someone who deals with these kinds of people on a near-daily basis, your first stereotype couldn't be much more accurate. And your frat boy stereotype is still pretty accurate, even though nobody in my fraternity really fits that stereotype. It does describe every other guy in every other fraternity on campus, though!

Well, after looking at the goodies.html/tech.html pages, I decided to make ddg my default Chrome search engine for a while. I'll report back differences in a couple of weeks, since I do use Chrome's built-in search functionality quite a bit. I'll have to remember to use all the cool tricks that ddg offers.

I still think it's fairly intelligent. Maybe it's gone downhill a bit.

I truly do enjoy that show. I'd like to think it's my physics background that makes me enjoy it, but you don't need much of one to appreciate most of the humor. Sheldon is also one of the greatest TV show characters to grace television. Just saying.

Essentially we were 99% done with the whole project and they met with the company members, told them that the contract was an at-will employment agreement and was being terminated. The funny thing is, that's a complete and utter lie, and the sad thing is the guys here fell for it. *facepalm*

And that's why I worry about doing work with startups. If business wasn't money-over-everything, it'd be soooo much nicer.

It looks pretty good and I need a new TV show to follow. I'm in!

I've got a friend that uses this religiously. I see no reason, really. I don't see the value in privacy on a search engine. I don't particularly care if people see what I search for. Perhaps there's another aspect of privacy that I'm missing.

As a tablet device, I'm pretty convinced the iPad is superior for most applications. As a netbook, it's significantly worse.

Sums up the iPad nicely. I want a tablet device, I'll likely be getting an iPad over summer. Just to toy with, really. And develop on!

Your normal use of a trackpad must be super derpy if you trigger gestures with normal use. ;p

The rotate gesture in particular is quite intuitive. It's quite a bit like the motion you'd make to rotate a photo if it was sitting in front of you. I didn't say any of the other gestures were intuitive, if you'll notice. They're easy to remember and use after forcing yourself to use them for two minutes, though, which is why I like them.
Other than rotating a photo... what's the point of the rotating mechanism?

Rotating a PDF! (That's how I discovered the rotate gesture.)

Whatever happened to Warrior? I miss his evangelism. He was like Steve Balmer's personal Fred Phelps.
He was banned for being a colossal dillhole, IIRC?

No, he just left. I've conversed with him on AIM a few times since then but haven't really kept in touch with him. :/

From my findings, it's Win7 with the start menu being replaced by the ugly tablet interface they seem to favor on Windows Phone. There's a move to whole-screen apps as well which you start from the Start Menu.

One thing I like... the new task manager. It's pretty sweet. Nice little facelift by Microsoft there.

One thing I don't.... Microsoft accounts seem to be the default thing to use as a user account. It's now an extra option to have a local user account... and to do anything with a lot of the apps provided in the Consumer Preview, you need to log into their Live service. Dumb. I shouldn't have to sign into my account to use Calendar to save events.

Another thing... the lock screen is nice, but how am I supposed to know to drag it up/down to unlock the screen if I'm not using a tablet? Clicking the screen and dragging it with a mouse on a non-tablet is a much different experience... one that is not intuitive at all.

Besides that, it wasn't much different from Win7 and I got pretty bored of it.

For the hell of it (and to prove to myself that it's not a habit), I stopped biting my nails on Jan 1. I always maintain that I broke the habit years ago, and that biting my nails is part of grooming now, not an unconscious habit. I'm usually fairly conscious about doing it.

And apparently I was right. Not biting them doesn't bother me in general, but having any kind of nails messes up my typing! Using a computer is annoying to me with any kind of nails :(
Over a month later, I haven't put my nails in my mouth. I wonder how long I have to do it to prove a point, I miss having ubershort nails and I hate the feeling of clippers!

I stopped for a good two weeks, but have since relapsed. Bit two of my nails to the point where pressure against them hurts. Typing is semi-painful when your thumb/pointer are in pain when being used

As someone who bites their nails, DON'T GIVE IN. You know it stinks.
