My only issue with the chick-fil-a thing is the improper use of government authority to stop them from building places. Abuse your city's "long-term planning" goals or something, but for the mayor to come out and say "No we are not approving your building because you disagree with us" sets a dangerous precedent.

yeah....old shoes were poor quality and not-so-awesome style. *shrug*

working on guardianship stuff, so I go to court lots. nice to look appropriate.
also, this guardianship stuff has me feeling _very_ thankful for how healthy I am. Met one kid that is IDD + had a shitty mom that didnt take care of him. He ended up banging his head on the wall so hard he made himself blind :(. fuck.

The Strand? Good shoe choice. Not the best for court though, imo. Can't beat a solid black/brown blucher with a business suit though.

I was actually going to get the Strand but it's too much detailing for me. I have the Park Ave and the Suede Amok thus far, probably will get a couple more in the coming year or two.

Iowa now.
Whereabouts in IA? If things work out well I will probably be interviewing in Iowa City at Carver this coming year.

I'm going to be in Madison, Wisconsin this Saturday (16th) through the 25th.  I will have the wife and kiddo so I think Minnesota would be too far for a day trip, but I'd love to meet somewhere closer if it works out!
Madison is a good ~5 hours from me so even in the middle would be a rather large hike for either of us. Joe is much closer if he's in town.

Minnesota isn't that far from where I am now. We might have to try and work something out.
Missurah iirc?

I don't think I'll be able to make it out there, =(

I'm still my own little forest.
Ditto

Perhaps Chavo and I will have to do a Midwest get-together at some point. Maybe hang out in a barn or something?
I can get to North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, and stuff near those fairly easily.
if you're ever in the area (preferrably after october, when i turn 21) let me know!

"Fake" is, at least for me, not a very good reason to dislike a photo. :)
It's the juxtaposition of a realistic canvas with a high contrast color palette. To take it to the extreme to illustrate my point, if iago had also manipulated it so that G--->Pink and B--->Red, would you still find it a good photo? I think there's a level of post processing that's "just right" and if you are friends with me on FB, my profile pic was enhanced just a little, but it would be very hard to tell.

hey'd look better with higher saturation, especially the last one. ;)

My problem with that is that I feel like it looks a little too fake. The greens were definitely green, but not like THAT. Admittedly it is better than the original, but that usually happens after post-processing on a pic taken by an old and crappy camera.

hah! I forgot iago has file uploading enabled.

All these were taken on Little Corn Island in Nicaragua. While there, I stayed at the Little Corn Beach & Bungalow. The parrot (pic 1) lives there. They let it out when it's daylight, otherwise he's caged.

Pic 2: The houses are elevated (it's an island, this makes sense) and surrounded by plants.

Pic 3: Walked down the beach a ways and took that picture overlooking the entire shoreline.

the pics were taken on what is now probably a 10 year old P&S so they're pretty crummy, but eh.

No offense to your post processing but I like the originals a lot more. I've never been a fan of oversaturated colors.

I have a few pics but nowhere to put them.. just stuff from a trip I took last year on what is, to date, the most scenic coastline I've been on.

For those who haven't drove/ridden a manual, if you don't downshift when you come to a stop, then try to leave your stop in 3rd+ (2nd if you're a bad clutcher), you won't be leaving your stop. :)
Unless bikes are different, there's no problem with downshifting after you've stopped fully.

lol, 'very finite'.
It's even more finite than expected!

If it isn't already obvious I don't proofread my forum posts.

<edit> Also, you seem to be making a point, then qualifying it so much that the point is totally useless. "There are no black guys in movies except the following huge list of exceptions, ..."
You misunderstood completely. I'm saying there is a very finite number of exceptions in which current Hollywood films star black people. Your average movie is not going to have a black lead. Let's look through the current movies in theaters: http://www.imdb.com/showtimes/
The movies I see starring blacks (though this last will probably vary based on theaters near you):
Marley - a documentary on Bob Marley. Falls exactly into the category of "needs a black man for even a shred of legitimacy"
No One is Safe - an action flick starring Denzel Washington
Tyler Perry's Good Deeds - a story about a businessman and one of his office staff
Think Like A Man - a pg13 rom com

I count 4/48. Of those, I say 3 of the 4 could be written for either a black or white lead, with the obvious exception being Bob Marley's documentary (because who the hell would go see a documentary about Bob Marley starring some white dude?). Of the remaining 3, I contend the last two matter more because those roles tend to require better acting ability. So the number of films in which a black person is cast to be a leading actor is quite small. Even if you remove all the remakes/re-broadcasts, animated films, historical films,  and movies based off books, the number of movies in which white people are cast as leading actors is much greater.
