also, re: black dudes in movies, I offer: Morgan Freeman, Samuel L Jackson, Forest Whitaker, Will Smith (yeah, you said that), Denzel Washington, ... and now I have to resort to IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/list/UVJkkkg6lnc/ (not gonna lie; of the top 10, I didn't know the two chicks)
You're missing the point entirely. There are black actors in Hollywood, I never disputed that. My point is that the movies where black guys are cast for leading roles can be broken down as follows: historically necessary (e.g. Denzel Washington cast as the historical black gangster in "American Gangster"); action heroes (e.g. Samuel L Jackson as Mace Windu; supporting characters (e.g. Morgan Freeman as God, or Lucius Fox). Very rarely are there movies that feature black guys in leading roles, even if race has absolutely no part in the story. Will Smith is the only exception.

laugh tracks are lame as shit. studio audiences FTW. also, I still laughed out loud during parts of that clip.
All canned laughter sucks. I absolutely hate it. I don't need a television show to tell me what's funny, I can decide that for myself.

and while, yes, sheldon goes from douche to "human" to douche in the next episode, one has to remember that this is television. one also has to remember that real people do the exact same thing, so it isn't too absurd for someone to be nice one day and a dick the next and then nice and then a dick and then nice and then...you get the point
I wasn't talking about his mood.

Modern Family, though, is probably the best primetime comedy/sitcom being produced.
First agreeable thing you've said.

guess you dont watch Tyler Perry stuff. if a white dude made a show (or 25 different shows about the same thing) about black people being stereotypically black, there would be race riots (much like there currently are as a result of the whole Taryvon Martin thing).
TV shows have stereotypes because stereotypes are real traits and people identify with that (ie reality)

Lawyer stereotypes: substances abuse, argumentative, arrogant, disregard for "right v. wrong" over winning.
Me: check, check, check, check (and an ish too all of those, but yeah)

stereotypes are real in that they are an over-generalization of things, but are nevertheless a generalization of things. stereotypes are true as can be.
I think it's good that someone is presenting the "black" side to television, and clearly there's an audience for him if he's been that successful financially. It disgusts me how every major motion picture, unless it's one that historically needs a black person (see: slavery films, gangster films, etc.), has a 'white person [or will smith]' leading role consensus. If Perry helps erode those walls, then I'm all for him. I just find him uninspired and not funny.

I think he's alive, since he responded to you about 3 hours ago on FB. :)

Also, legal issues can suck. I nearly got pulled into a legal thing for something that wasn't even (barely) my fault! Fortunately, I resolved it with the business owner before it got bad. But I had a couple stressful days there!
I didn't realize Mark Zuckerberg was so understanding!

Modern Family is good. I like BBT more. :P

You let things bother you too much.
When I watch TV/movies for entertainment, I don't try to look for stilted dialogue and caricatures of characters, but they stand out so much in BBT. As far as characters go, there's only so many times I can watch people be living stereotypes before it becomes ludicrous.

I hate BBT. I really really enjoyed season 1, and to a lesser extent season 2. Now it's just every nerd stereotype with a myriad of character inconsistencies (one episode Sheldon will strike a realization, the next he's back to being a wad). Also, Sheldon pisses me off. Cute at first and then just annoying. :\

Modern Family, now that's good comedy.

All I listen to are movie scores, and would like some new ones to keep me interested. Ignore the basics (star wars, lotr, the pixar films i've seen, and the [good] batman series).

She thought that when humans watched the room, we saw the double-slit pattern. When only recording devices watched, we saw the single-slit pattern.
Yep. Her entire belief in the spiritual realm rested on this fabricated version of the double-slit experiment. I don't keep in touch with her, but I'll always remember that as the day that arguing with a kook actually did something.
She doesn't really sound that into the cult of voodoo magicks if that's what predicated her belief and that's all it took to get her out of it.

I'm also slightly wtf'd as to how she misinterpreted the DS experiment that badly in the first place.

Your normal use of a trackpad must be super derpy if you trigger gestures with normal use. ;p

The rotate gesture in particular is quite intuitive. It's quite a bit like the motion you'd make to rotate a photo if it was sitting in front of you. I didn't say any of the other gestures were intuitive, if you'll notice. They're easy to remember and use after forcing yourself to use them for two minutes, though, which is why I like them.
Lol I despise trackpads. Actually, I vehemently hate everything about laptops except that I can move them around. Too uncomfortable a keyboard (I love my split ergonomic keyboard), shitty built in mouse (I like real mice, fuck even a ball mouse beats a trackpad), and awkward screen location.

Anyway, in rereading your post you didn't say that. But I know plenty of idiots (and I'll wager so do you) who swear by the Cult of the Artist Formerly Known as Jobs and would say everything that Apple does is "intuitive".

I paid $150 + shipping and all for each one.
You said $650. If you paid $150+S&H that's fine.

The thing about JAB suits is unless you're a big round guy they will look like ass on you. Unless something's changed they're a very "full figure only" type of clothing.

I have very little use for more than two buttons, but it does seem like a pretty silly limitation if that's true.

I tend to find other mouse-like input devices clumsy compared to apple's trackpad. In retrospect, I regret not getting one of those instead of the magic mouse.

I love two finger scroll, and I moan to myself every time have to use any laptop that doesn't support it. I love the four-finger up/down gestures in Snow Leopard (display all apps running, display all windows of the currently active application).

The pinch-zoom is pretty great too. Thumb-forefinger rotate is super intuitive.

Gestures are awesome. They'd be terrible if they weren't processed correctly less than 999/1000 times, but Apple does a pretty spectacular job with this.
It most certainly is not "intuitive". Everytime I use a friend's MB/MBP that has one of these I find myself doing stuff I have absolutely and no idea how to prevent it. So I usually just stick to clicking on the spotlight and searching for everything and avoiding the mouse.

$650 suit from Joseph A Bank.  It's a trio, so it has the suit slacks + a second matching pair.  It was on sale, so I figured I'd get one, but I guess I clicked twice or something.

Question:  Return for what I paid, or try to sell for retail price on eBay?  Or does anyone here want a 42R suit for what I paid + shipping? (not likely, but I want suggestions re: the ebay v. return thing)

/side note:  I finally have 5 suits.  Last summer, I had to wear slacks + coat every day, but I only had 3 suits, so I alternated + wore a sports jacket with slacks.  This summer, I can dress appropriately for my law-work.

Return them both, you paid too much.

Whatever happened to Warrior? I miss his evangelism. He was like Steve Balmer's personal Fred Phelps.
He was banned for being a colossal dillhole, IIRC?

From my findings, it's Win7 with the start menu being replaced by the ugly tablet interface they seem to favor on Windows Phone. There's a move to whole-screen apps as well which you start from the Start Menu.

One thing I like... the new task manager. It's pretty sweet. Nice little facelift by Microsoft there.

One thing I don't.... Microsoft accounts seem to be the default thing to use as a user account. It's now an extra option to have a local user account... and to do anything with a lot of the apps provided in the Consumer Preview, you need to log into their Live service. Dumb. I shouldn't have to sign into my account to use Calendar to save events.

Another thing... the lock screen is nice, but how am I supposed to know to drag it up/down to unlock the screen if I'm not using a tablet? Clicking the screen and dragging it with a mouse on a non-tablet is a much different experience... one that is not intuitive at all.

Besides that, it wasn't much different from Win7 and I got pretty bored of it.
Yeah, pretty much this. I'm sure MS did some sort of market testing, but it looks like nothing I will ever want to adopt.

NO! You must fund my salary!
I posted in the other thread how to get me off Firefox in quite literally the time it takes to upgrade IE. Get it done and I will be there.

Advantage to biting: I can manage my nails on an airplane without getting shot by an Air Marshall.

Your move, sir.
Disadvantage to biting: Gay air marshall (I'm sure they exist) sees your mouth skillz.

Wait, I'm confusing myself... is this a disadvantage or an advantage?
