...but it's surprising this also dribbles down into chess organizations!

The letter that the organizing committee released regarding the Georgia chess federation's request, voicing an opinion shared by the international chess organization FIDE, is so unbelievably stupid that it only shows that politics, in all spheres of influence, not only corrupts the heart but also weakens the mind. Of course there are exceptions (like Kasparov and Obama) but this truly does seem to be the case in the majority of politicians. It's like they say: show me a politician and I'll show you a dumb person.

The great thing about America is that at least we get smart people in one of the three branches, i.e. the Judiciary. They actually have to learn something before being selected for office :P

It's even more complicated than that! They have to prove that they've learned something just to get their degree; then, they have to prove themselves extensively to be "fair" and "impartial" before being selected.
