Wow, how long has it been!? And there's only one (minor) upgrade to SMF? Either that means it's abandoned, or perfect. Dunno which. :)

Anyways, I rebuilt the server it's on, again. Actually, my husband Chris (not Sidoh) did. This is now running as a container on a Podman server, along with all my other sites. So at least if this gets pwned for being old and janky, it will be much more difficult to do anything bad with it!

Cheers!

Love,

iago

Fancy! (Also TIL about podman, looks neat!)

No need to fix what ain't broken!

Almost shocked that the server hasn't been broken into/defaced in some capacity given the version stagnancy, I'm sure automated scans/attempts were made over the years... +1 to perfect.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

Yup! It's basically an implementation of Docker, only not.

Haha I know right? I feel better that I'm finally hosting this on its own container so it can't impact my other sites anymore.

I mostly don't, I'm just the resident historian :)

Blaze

I was just wondering, while I was logging in, if this site was run in a container or not.  Now I know!

Congratulations!
And like a fool I believed myself, and thought I was somebody else...

It's interesting that me and Newby's ip addresses are 10.* (since it's in a container behind a reverse proxy), though Blaze's isn't. We'll see if this one is. Nothing that I know of changed since I posted this originally, but /shrug

Edit: My external IP is right now, too. I wonder why? I know X-Forwarded-For is set, and we configured Apache to trust it (since only the reverse proxy can connect). I guess Apache probably passes the "correct" IP down the PHP.

Currently it's Internet -> Nginx proxy (in a container) -> Apache2 backend with forum software (a custom container since nobody makes an SMF container).

Joe

Wow, you can't even

on this forum software. Janky!

Belated congrats on your marriage iago!

You might be right about that, Joe.
